The main building pictured is undergoing restoration but in any case this is not where most bedrooms are situated. We were in a noisy annex which, although about 10 years old, clearly lacked basic maintenance (Broken lights, broken door locks). If you want eggs for breakfast they have to be poached. Can't do scrambled apparently. They don't offer marmalade with the toast either, just butter. A walk around the 17 acres however is delightful. Some good thoughts have gone into that.
A weekend suprised
When we book a last minute thing, we had no idea who's hotel we were staying at.
A mix up with three room we had book and what we received was not a great start, however and to their credit they did try and find us the type of room we had booked. As it happened the wife prefer the eclectic one we were in. Mind with no where to hang clothes or to put away anything other than your socks it was not the greatest. Do drinking facilities in this room but some were provided after a polite exchange of words. Beds were comfortable. Breakfast was well cooked but if you like your eggs done any way but poached then this is the wrong place for you...Dinner was again well cooked and on reading reviews of people who stayed the same time as we did I wonder where they got the steak from. It was not on our list of 5 main courses. We had a lot of people staying on site using Groupon vouchers and I can't help wondering if we were treated to a reduced menu when we kept being "ask are you using the Groupon vouchers Sir" No we paid gull price. And be warned you have no idea what dinner will cost till you get the bill. At over £82 for 2 courses with no drinks, I thought it was on the high side. Would I stay again. ....yes with Groupon!
