Major Improvements Definitely A Must
Upon arrival and walking into the public area, the bar had a few customers and there was only one person behind the bar.
There was no sign anywhere to indicate as to where hotel customers were to go to check in. After walking pass the bar twice, the lady behind the bar spoke up and said we had to wait at the end of the bar until she had finished serving. She was friendly, took our payment for the room, gave us our keys and took us to the staircase and told us we were on the second floor and left us to find our room on our own. The decor in the bar, the staircase, the corridor on the first floor was dark and dingy - definitely requires updating and re-decorating. This filled us with trepidation as to what to expect of our bedroom. When we finally reached the second floor and our room, we were.extremely relieved that it was clean and such a far cry from the rest of the premises. We had our dinner in the bar-restaurant seating area - much needed updating here too. Food was traditional pub grub fairly good but ridiculously enormous amount of chips. We could have shared one portion and still have leftovers. Breakfast the next morning was served in yet another part of the building - again here updating and re-decorating required. Food was average - would have liked to have some yoghurt and maybe some Danish to choose from - but all that was on offer was full English. All in all a very sorry looking pub with rooms above - definitely NOT what we would call a hotel. Radstock had only one other restaurant and such a pity that The Radstock Hotel has not taken the opportunity to offer a better class of service.
Value for money
Stayed for one night only to attend family wedding in Bath.
Had lunch on arrival which was good quality food and plentiful. Stairs and hallway leading to bedrooms are looking tired so I was pleasantly surprised to find our room was quiet modern. We were on the 2nd floor, stairs are steep and there is no lift so may not be suitable if you have mobility problems. Breakfast was good and freshly cooked to order. Staff were friendly and welcoming. This is a good value reasonably priced hotel. Free WIFI throughout hotel.
