Disappointing rooms, lovely staff,
Not shown to room, just directed. Waited 1 hour for a glass of wine (sat outdoors) room keys kept triggering into non-active mode (first time my fault for being next to smart phone but after that no idea why!) happened 6 times and each time had to go up and down stairs to reception to get re-activated. Room was tatty with flaking paint in bathroom and ceiling and missing grout on floor tiles. No robe and slippers in room, had to ask for them. £5 room service tray charge. Although check out time was stated as11am, I had a letter pushed under my door stating that because of an internal audit access to my room was required from 10.30am onwards. Staff we're very pleasant but some more training required. At breakfast was not told to help myself, just shown to table . The room was clean and the bed very comfortable, telly a bit wee for a larger room. Dog happy with nice walks which could be better signposted, but beautiful views. Quite a lot of litter around hotel and outside vermin traps clearly visible we're a bit off-putting. The staff were helpful and really nice, they certainly tried their best to help with any query I had but the overall impression I left with was that the place needed a much more perfectionist approach from management,in terms of getting each room to an acceptable standard, to having a consistent approach to ensuring that sufficient staff were on to attend to guests requirements, and to paying attention to how the place would be viewed by guests (litter, vermin traps) .

The only thing that let this visit down a bit was the service at breakfast was very fast from ordering hot food to being served it. The table next to me also comments on it. Also, I had room service for my meals at night and the quality of the chips was very poor. Skin on which isn't a problem but they just looking like frozen skins you get in the supermarket,

Welcoming staff and great dinner. Spacious and comfortable room with lovely views. However, the shower is in a terrible space in the bathroom which meant I had to crouch to use it! Spa facilities could do with being updated too.
