Second stay in the Old Waverley not quite as good as the first.
This is the second time we've stayed in the Old Waverley within a year, booked through Laterooms.com, so we knew what to expect. It's very central for the train and bus station and our room was comfortable and spotlessly clean. The room we were given overlooked Princes Street which was great during the day for the view but not so good at night because of the noise. Our only complaint regarding the room was that it was very hot. We left the windows open during the day but had to close them at night. Our room was on the second floor which was lucky because the lift broke down on Sunday so we had to carry our cases down two flights next morning. Breakfast was not as organised as last time, perhaps more servers were required. I ordered porridge and a poached egg and they were brought together. Tea and coffee were not brought until we'd almost finished breakfast. On the third morning we had to remind the server that we still hadn't been given tea/coffee. Despite these issues we enjoyed our stay in Edinburgh!

location
Location of this hotel perfect. Bar food very good and reasonable. Beware rooms at the rear where substantial building work is very disruptive. Found it very petty to charge for wifi for guests who do not book direct.

City centre hotel
We have stayed here before some years ago. The hotel is very convenient for the station and shopping. Staff very courteous and helpful. Room very clean, slightly worn in parts. Very noisy at the front.

Wavrrly short stay
Breakfast range of food could be wider, particularly fruit which was the same each day also tinned. Poor attention given to hot food supply when trays had run out.
