Such a stunning landscape would not exist if not for the keepers, agisters, verderers and the crown. In tribute to their work, the Hotel has named each of its room types after them. So, whether enjoying the luxurious grandeur of the Crown Rooms, the spacious Verderer Rooms, the delightful Agister Rooms or the cosy Keeper Rooms, travellers of all kinds are sure to appreciate the spectacular beauty of their surroundings.
The Burley Restaurant at Moorhill House Hotel opens directly onto a raised patio area with great views over the landscaped gardens to the surrounding woods. The Hotel's strong links with the New Forest are emphasized by its use of local, seasonal ingredients, which is why this AA Rosette restaurant is a popular choice among locals and hotel guests alike. Evoking all that is great about traditional country dining, it offers everything from delicious cooked-to-order breakfasts, tasty bar snacks, afternoon tea and an exceptional dinner menu. With a tantalising selection of dishes, including Pan-seared Venison Haunch, Slow-Roasted Hampshire Pork Belly and Grilled Bream, there is something to satisfy even the most discerning of food lovers. Before dinner, guests can also enjoy a drink in the wood-panelled bar or relax in front of the fire in the lounge with its wide windows overlooking the woods.

The Hotel is situated in the village of Burley in the New Forest National Park. It offers plenty of free on-site parking and despite its secluded location, is only a twenty-two minute drive from the M27 and just over half an hour from Southampton. The City offers excellent rail links to the rest of the country, whilst there are local train stations at Sway and Brockenhurst, each just a 15 minute taxi journey from the Hotel. For those flying in, Bournemouth International Airport is just over a twenty minute drive away, or it is an hour and a half to London’s Heathrow Airport. Burley is perhaps the quintessential New Forest village. Surrounded by an area of true outstanding beauty, it has a long association with witchcraft, dragons and smugglers, all of which make for a fascinating day out. The village still practices the ancient tradition of commoning (where animals are allowed to graze freely in the forest), so be prepared to see horses, cows, donkeys and the occasional pig wandering along the main road. Local deer can also be spotted roaming freely in the woodland surrounding the hotel. Fans of the great outdoors will be in their element, and there are plenty of opportunities for walking, cycling and horse-riding. There are many attractions not too far from Burley, such as the Beaulieu Motor Museum, Bucklers Hard, Paultons Park and Peppa Pig World in Romsey, Exbury Gardens and Marwell Wildlife, all of which make for a fantastic day out. Southampton, Winchester and Bournemouth are all just a short drive away as are the beaches at Mudeford and Highcliffe. There’s also the market town of Lymington, where visitors can catch a ferry to the Isle of Wight.
