Misleading appearences
Despite the building and its entrance looking very shabby and unwelcoming, the hostel was neither! The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was comparatively spacious and comfortable and the en-suite with all working facilities, including plenty of hot water.
The £3 breakfast was nice although the mini pastries had all benn warmed up in a microwave and so a bit hard! but still ok.

Cheap
The room was hot and muggy, the mattress was hard, and the pillow was thin. The toilets and showers weren't in great condition and there weren't enough of them. Using door codes instead of keys was annoying. The hostel itself is a fair distance from the centre of Brighton.
But the room was clean, the staff seemed helpful, and best of all: it is cheap. For the price, you could do a lot worse.

really nice place for a good price!
i only had a couple of problems (which aren't big enough to prevent me from staying again!) and one was that the showers had ice cold water, and there were some members of staff that didn't know where they were. i wasn't shown where the toilets, kitchen etc were.
others staying there were welcoming and friendly, there was a lot to do to occupy the time and i've slept in far worse beds for 3x the price! it's conveniently close to brighton or it was for me as i'm familiar with the bus service and area. pretty near to where a few buses stop!

Cheap option for a bed for the night.
I stayed just the one night as I was in town to see a band. The hostel is ideal accomodation for for anyone who, as I was, is looking for a cheap bed for the night. The quality of the accomodation is as you'd expect from a hostel in this price range, but acceptable.
One note of caution though, pay attention to the location. The name suggests something central to Brighton when it is in fact in Hove. Still it is near the seafront and in a nice area and it is not hard to reach the centre.
