Room was spacious and very clean.
We had a room towards the back of the Hotel. There was a Wedding on that night but it did not disturb us at all. Traffic noise non existent considering it is sited on a main road. Staff friendly and accommodating.
value - great location
We stayed just one night but it was fantastic value and no complaints - fab breakfast too!!!!!
One night in Arundel
My partner and I used The White Swan as our base of operations as we were out in Arundel for the evening at the China Palace.
The staff were excellent and very welcoming, the Pub/Hotel looks modest from the outside but inside is well appointed and nicely presented. The room was as expected for the price paid, clean and tidy with a good en suite and a lovely power shower. We had a small lunch on arrival as we were eating out that night, the food was very good and reasonably priced, breakfast was also plenty and of good quality. My two gripes, and reason for marking the room down are:
That in this day and age you would expect Wi-Fi to work in the rooms,we had an I-pad which my partner wanted to use whilst I had one of my looooong baths and our phones with us but none of this worked in our room as we were 'out of range' which is odd as we were in Room 4 which is closest to the bar area which had excellent Wi-Fi?. The TV in the room also seemed to suffer with poor signal and was rendered virtually unwatchable due to freezing and skipping. My second issue, and this could be resolved by booking with care, is that there was a wedding party there on the same evening, and if you're in the rooms on the right side of the building you might as well be in the party itself...this went on until midnight. You can (and we did) close the window to try to reduce the noise but the rooms are VERY warm even with the radiator off so this isn't ideal, you just swap one reason for not sleeping for another. Overall it is a nice place to stay and I wouldn't hesitate to go there again...I'd just consider my booking date more carefully next time.
The White Swan Inn
Our room was comfortable and quiet.
The bathroom was good and the shower was strong and hot. We ate in the restaurant and although the food was very good, we waited a long time for our meal.
So good we booked another night.
Room was spacious, comfortable and clean with a nice en suite. Staff were friendly and helpful. Ambiance was relaxed and the bar rooms are very nice with tasteful rustic-style decor. Choice of breakfasts was superb (at least 6 different types of breakfasts on offer) and staff happy to cater for any variations which were not on the menu. We had an evening meal there and the food was good and again a good choice. Prices for main course are between £10 and £15 and portions are very generous. There are options for snacks or smaller dishes.
Our only criticisms: soaps, shower gels, etc were not very generously supplied in our room and were not replenished after the first night . TV reception was poor on some channels but we were still able to watch TV ok.
Overall we really liked staying at the White Swan. We were travelling around a bit and had stayed in 2 B&B's before this and the Swan was by far the nicest place, but also the most expensive.
We will be back
Very pleasant stay with excellent bathroom facilities.
We will stay here again when we next need to visit the area. The food was good and plentiful, and at least while we were there no screaming kids.
We had a comfortable stay, the room & bathroom were very clean.
The food in the restaurant was served quickly and was extremely tasty and great value for money. We had a lovely full English breakfast both mornings. Only issue we had was there was a function on one of the nights and our room was right above it, it was very loud music so we couldn't relax or go to sleep until well after midnight and some of the party people were staying over so there was a lot of banging doors as they went back to their rooms. My husband spoke to the night staff who apologized, however couldn't do anything as there were no spare rooms to move us too. We were told there was a function when we checked in & that our room was above it, however obviously that was too late for us as we had already booked. In any case the staff were always courteous and helpful, wouldn't hesitate to stay again.
Lovely hotel. Shame about the noise
We were thrilled by the appearance .
The room was clean and comfortable. We had dinner down in the bar area, this was nice. The problem was the noise from the function that was going on downstairs.we were warned by the receptionist but this did not prepare us for the onslaught of the birdy song et al until 12 midnight
What makes the difference at this hotel is that the staff go the extra mile for you without you even asking.
They seem genuinely happy to be working there which results in a great atmosphere and brilliant customer service which really is priceless. The only drawback for me at the time was no wifi in the room - I chose a hotel that would have this, but they had internet problems in the rooms which made things very difficult for me to work, which I could only do in the bar / restaurant area.
Some of the food was amazing but the dessert menu needs serious rethinking: far too many flavours in each thing, for example (from the menu): Chocolate and blueberry gingerbread tart, Blackberry and cinnamon cheesecake. Didn't detract from a lovely stay though. Thank you!
Great for a weekend away
Attended with some friends, stayed overnight on the Saturday.
Rooms very clean and modern, very polite staff and a great breakfast.
