Scored 4 for all categories as totally adequate for a business stopover.
Good size room for a single.
just what we needed, only in brighton for a gig ,so over nite stay.Clean room there was a smell.
shame we were not warned about kitchen closer.
A dated hotel, but cheaper than other similar options in the area.
Our first room was a bit too small for a couple with a baby.
We only had a small queen size bed and a very cramped shower room. We stayed in the room one night and then asked if they had anything else available. We were then moved to a much lighter, larger room with a bathroom which was much more suitable for a couple with a young baby. The staff member we spoke to was very polite and accommodating. We would have felt ripped off if we'd had to stay in the first room, but the second room was much more reasonable for the money we had paid. The hotel is very dated, but this should be reflected in the price you pay.
Very dated decor and although a hotel with potential it needs refurbing and at least some basic breakfast requirements
Although we stayed one night the room we were given could do with a makeover especially the stain on the ceiling, disappointed.
Nice, quaint little B&B
I have read so many reviews of which state, 'dont go' & 'run away' etc..
I honestly suspect either they have not had very pleasant rooms, or perhaps they have been used to 5* experiences. This is an old building that is being refurbished in areas, to modernize it where possible whilst keeping elements of it's original structure, the pillars in the breakfast area for example are pure marble and very pretty. Breakfast complaints?. I love sausages, and these were fresh, hot, fat cumberlands, winner. The room was clean enough, 4 poster bed and a small private balcony with a double person bath, and old fashioned styled taps, that give good hot water on demand. Staff were polite enough and efficient, happy to accomodate our needs as best as possible. My only gripe if I was looking for one. The bed creaked a little (hey, it's old fashioned!), and there were 1 or 2 small cigarette scorch marks on the carpet near the balcony door, but not new, so hey-hum. B&B for the weekend in Brighton by the sea front. You could do MUCH worse than here.
Mum and I went to see the Beach Boys and spent the night in this hotel.
It was very pleasant and the staff were friendly. We paid for a twin room, but were pleasantly surprised to fine we had a 2 rooms, with a double and a single bed. I would have preferred a memory foam mattress and the tap in the bathroom took a lot of effort to turn off (mum has arthritis and couldn't do it), but the rest was good. Room 504 in case the maintenance team read this!
Given the fact that the room was only costing £40 for the night, I wasn't expecting too much.
The one advantage is that parking was not a problem and, as I was only there for the night and leaving early the next morning, it cost nothing. The receptionists on arrival and leaving were pleasant and tried to be as helpful as possible but were hampered by old technology.
The room was a single and a decent size but the curtains were held onto the track by three hooks and they were not particularly clean. It was all very shabby with broken floor tiles in the bathroom but then again it was only £40!
Needs a refresher
Everything was adequate but basic and the hotel needs some modernisation.
Location was excellent especially as we wanted to see the cricket at Sussex CCC nearby.
We were in town to watch a gig and just needed somewhere to crash for the night - Langfords was in a good location, near the seafront, a shortish walk from town and at a decent price.
The room was spacious and clean, if a little tired. The receptionist was very friendly and helpful. Suited our needs very well.
