Hotel had the wrong price and challenged our Laterooms booking!
We made a booking with Laterooms for one night at £154, as advertised by the Hotel du Vin, Tunbridge Wells.
On arrival at the hotel, the receptionist informed us that the price was £229.
I showed her our booking confirmation email with the correct price. However the receptionist challenged this, and said that I had to phone Late Rooms to sort it out. She said it was their policy (?) that the customer has to phone Laterooms. Also she kept calling it Expedia repeatedly.
It felt as though she was trying to put the problem onto us to prove we had a booking. We said it was her job to phone Laterooms which she duly did. We then had to sit there while she had a long phone conversation with them, about her system and prices, something we were not interested in.
We said that this kind of mixup should have been done "behind-the-scenes" and not in front of the customer.
Laterooms did not sort it out unfortunately, but afterwards she agreed to apply our price, as per the booking and that is what we paid. However it was a jarring and unpleasant start to our stay at the Hotel du Vin. The rest of the stay was fine. Apart from the annoyance at reception, we also think that Laterooms could have been a bit more assertive on the phone with her in confirming the booking price, so that we had some back up.
65th Birthday treat
Not worth the money, Service and room was ok but dinner was poor.
stayed at Du Vin's in Brighton and Bristol far, far better. Will not be returning.
