The Squirrel @ Hurtmore
All in all, the Squirrel is pretty good.
However, it falls down on detail. Eg. WiFi is almost non-existent. Even B&Bs and Guest Houses get this right. Happily, my room was otherwise fine. Didn't have dinner but I'm told it's good. Breakfast was OK but a little meagre. It's fair to say that the staff are covering more bases than they can manage, so heaven knows what happens when it gets busy. Nice people, who work hard but there are only so many plates one can spin at the same time and this is where the Squirrel lets itself down. Consequently, it's like staying at a B&B but at hotel prices. Good bar, nice Real Ale and a very attractive building.
Lovely Little Inn
Everything about this inn was better than I expexcted.
Very quaint looking, comfortable bed and friendly staff. The only downside was that I got woken up really early by the people who were staying upstairs and couldn't get back to sleep as the floorboards and people walking about made it too noisy. Also, was told the taxi journey to go 8 miles would be about £20 but wasn't aware that the firms charge time and a half or double time after a certain time of night so taxi back cost me £40!
