About the hotel

The BEST WESTERN Oaklands Hall Hotel is gorgeously Grade II! Near Grimsby, our listed country house hotel nestles quietly in 5 acres of beautiful parkland and gardens, but is close enough to the hustle and bustle of surrounding towns to offer the best of both worlds. On the edge of the Lincolnshire Wolds (an area of outstanding natural beauty) the hotel is close to countryside and seaside, just minutes from all the amenities of Grimsby and the family attractions of Cleethorpes. Lincoln is within easy reach too, and the beautiful unspoiled Georgian market town of Louth is well worth a visit for bargain hunters! The hotel is also situated directly on National Cycle Route Number 1 for anyone who wants to bring their bike, but we're equally well placed for walks and hikes!

Not quite 4 star

We attended a family function at the hotel and so stayed over.

The function room was adequate but dated. The food at the function was very good and the table service excellent. Our evening meal was also of a high standard with excellent service. The room was basic and quite well maintained but a little more attention to cleaning was required. Having stayed in hotels around the world I believe this is a 3 star but with a little updating it could become 4 star. The staff make this hotel.

We stayed in an executive room which was fine except the bed was rather hard even though we are used to a firm mattress.

The pillows were awful, needed replacing with new ones. Hotel not suitable for anyone with mobility difficulties or children in prams as no lift and lots of stairs. When we checked in the receptionist noticed I use arm sticks, she told us our room was up several flights of stairs would I be ok as there was no lift and she didn't want to down grade us. Not very tactful. Most rooms we were told are accessed by going outside of the main hotel building however on our last day we discovered a short cut that did not necessitate the trek. A shame this had not been mentioned when we checked in. Some staff could have been more pleasant and informative. Don't remember reading in the hotel info re no lift. Portion sizes at breakfast varied. I had pancakes each morning which were very nice on our first morning I was given 1 on the second morning I was given 2 and on the third morning ..... you've guessed I got 3, good thing we weren't staying for a week.
