cheap, but really unpleasant
I wouldn't generally quibble with somewhere charging £10 a night, but hostel 639 is really run down, and dirty.
In my room the beds were broken, and the "curtain" was a bedsheet apparently tied in place (only covering half the window. A previous occupant's swimming trunks had been left in the shower. The whole place smells like it hasn't been cleaned since before the smoking ban came into force in the UK (in 2007). The smell was so bad the other people staying in the room with me wanted to leave the window open overnight - even though that made it bitterly cold.
Cheap but not very cheerful
Cheapest hostel in London and you can see why, I've stopped in hostels all over the world but this was the first time i've stopped in one in my own country and it was probably the worst hostel i've stayed in.
Travelled all night without sleep arrived here at 11am but they wouldn't let me check in until 2...I didn't actually get checked in till about 4 because of the vast queues. The rooms are quite dirty, service ok, got to pay for everything. Spoke to a lot of guests, all who seemed to be friendly and talkative, most complained about the dirtiness of the place and I was told by more than one that they had items stolen from them. In my room someones oyster card got taken/removed while I was there. Pay the extra £2 and go to another hostel
