Nice devour good bed pillows and shower shame about damp smell spoilt my stay!

Like the title says the room was nicely decorated, the shower was fantastic the staff were friendly.

However, I was in a basement room which had damp. The room smelt so bad I couldn't breathe properly. I had to have the windows open all night which may be ok in summer but not in November!

Nothing but a contactor and student hotel

This is a 6/7 story hotel, which is purely a no frills experience.

It is for contractors and coach loads of foreign students only, I wouldn't bring my wife or children anywhere near it. 1st night, around midnight, fast asleep, was woken by a couple walking into my room, having booked in and been given an electronic key card to my room. When I complained the next am, was told that they didn't know how that happened, as the IT allocation system wouldn't allow that possibility, but it happened. The manager stated that she would investigate and let me know how it happened, I received a complimentary £5 parking permit for 1 night. When I asked 4 days later, on booking out, of course there was still no info and expect there will never be.

Day 2, checking my bank account, I noticed that the hotel had correctly taken the 4 night payment as per booking. However, they had incorrectly taken a further £35 equivalent to the 1st nights charge. When I queried this, again they didn't know how it had happened, but could see in their records that it had. I was reimbursed, eventually received in my account 3 days later and again given a complimentary £5 nightly parking permit. Of course am sure that if I hadn't noticed this they would have kept my money. Wonder how many other times this has occurred. In summary, this is a no frills hotel which is very large and only suitable for contractors and foreign students, not families or business people. The reception is always very busy with a large queue of people booking in between say 4 - 8pm. So be prepared to stand in the queue and wait, as you will each day that you return to the hotel, as you'll need to get your electronic key card revalidated at reception to gain entry to your room.

There is parking on a first come basis, in tight parking bays, be warned, as this is a contactors hotel, most bays are taken up with large transit style vans, consequently not really a fit for the bays, so your nice shiny car will have van doors opened against it.

There is a 4 - 12pm bar full of contactors with their colorful language. The good point is the prices are very good indeed and people were ordering take away Pizzas from the bar, which they could eat in the bar. I was allocated an Executive Double room in the basement, this was so small, I hate to think what a standard room size would be like. phone signal was non existent in the basement and ground floors, you needed to go outside. The good points are, it is a relatively cheap hotel and warm, with individually room controlled fan systems. The mattress and pillows were exceptionally comfortable and the ensuite had a very powerful roomy shower, with easily controlled temperature and was never short of hot water.

I didn't have the breakfast, but noticed that the cost for this was £6.99.

If you are going to park here, my tip is to get your parking permit for the night in the morning of that day. They will not let you park until you have paid for a permit. If you wait to get the permit as you drive in, you could wait 30mins in the reception queue to be served, before going back to your car, Permit in hand, to eventually park, and then only if there is a space available. Best of luck, but I won't be back.
