This trip was very much a last minute idea but we found booking was easy and Nikki was very friendly right from the outset in terms of sending a text prior to our arrival and then during the actual check-in process itself.
The room was very clean and comfortable and had a lovely large king size bed and drinks cooler/fridge. In addition to Nikki's friendliness the other key point worthy of mention is the lovely fulsome cooked breakfast; including a number of flavoursome locally sourced products.
Ian is rude & charged us extra without us knowing
Booked a late last min deal for bank holiday weekend, with 2 hours of making the booking I had several calls and texts chasing me for my arrival time.
When I explained it would be at least a few hours as was travelling from Bristol to Devon I was asked if I could arrive earlier as owner (I'm guessing) wants to go out shopping !. I couldn't believe what I was hearing, this guy is running a hotel/guest house not a personal house. Room was good, lady on receipt on was polite and cheerful however I booked a non breakfast option, when we checked in she explain breakfast was included , I thought this was an offer etc as the room cost £80 for 1 night so not cheap for Devon, then when I checked she had charged me an extra £15 for 2 breakfasts without asking or telling me, very sneaky.
We always ask for an approximate ETA when the guest does not advise one at the time of booking. Guests can of course check in any time during our published check in times and by prior arrangement outside of those times.
The question of breakfast was not discussed at all. The guest booked on a "Room Only" basis for one night only at 75 pounds per room per night and checked in as booked. The following morning the two guests attended unexpectedly for breakfast which was fine. They were charged for breakfast accordingly as you would expect.
Clearly there has been a misunderstanding of some kind. Nikki & Ian
