Light and bright room in friendly hotel
Breakfasts were excellent. Room was clean and bright. An enjoyable and relaxing stay.
Good value for money
This is not one of the higher class Best Western but gave good value for money in the summer season.
The room was Ok but a bit small and could have done with a fresh coat of paint. The breakfast was good. There is no restaurant but a small bar offering basic meals. Nothing much for vegetarians or vegans who are better off going to one of the many restaurants available within walking distance. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Good location near the sea and walking distance of the city centre and ammenities. I was happy with the hotel for the money I paid.
The room was very small for the money and the toilet/shower room even smaller.
The outside of the hotel needed work doing in the garden and seating area. However the staff were very helpful and obliging.
Last minute Bournemouth break
My wife fancied a trip out to the New Forest, I preferred Bournemouth, so at midday on Saturday I clicked on LateRooms.com to find a reasonable hotel for that night.
The premise being to have an evening and morning in Bournemouth, then the rest of the day in the New Forest on the way home. There were lots of rooms available at various hotels, from ultra cheap without breakfast, to what I can only describe as ridiculously expensive B&B. I noticed the Montague was under the Best Western umbrella, looked tidy, provided breakfast for an extra quid per person and only 10 mins walk to Bournemouth pier or winter Gardens. I secured the room with a credit card.
On arrival we left the car in the free hotel car park and checked in. The m young man on reception was very polite, he took our vehicle reg, essential to avoid any parking charges. I paid for the room with a debit card and we were given a good old fashioned key on a huge key fob.
Our room was on the top floor, their is a quiet lift if stairs are a problem. The room was a good size, clean, functional, with opening windows, bath, shower handset, big double bed, large flat screen TV with free view, hairdryer, trouser press, tea and coffee with electric kettle and even an iron & ironing board.
It is an old hotel, in reasonable condition. The info pack says as its old, some of the floor boards tend to creak a bit. They are not exaggerating, every step is met with a creak, getting creakier as you walk towards the built in wardrobe. Other rooms had the same problem, however it was not a problem in terms of getting to sleep. There was plenty of hot water for a bath/shower and the hotel offers free hi-speed wifi, or free use of a computer at reception. Breakfast was a choice of a cooked option, supplemented with a buffet of cereals, toast, fruit, yogurts, Danish pastries etc, plenty of tea and coffee, milk and fruit juices. I had full English, my wife had smoked Salmon on a breakfast muffin. The young ladies serving were quick, efficient and friendly.
All told a pleasant 1 night stay in a friendly, if creaky hotel.
Good value for money
Lovely welcome and very helpful staff.
The hotel has recently been refurbished and our room was bright and light, also very clean. Would definately stay here again.
We like staying here we have three times now and it is a very nice hotel only this time we had room 31 and you can't move without the floor boards creaking all the time we only stayed for three night any longer and I would of asked to be moved.l would stay there again as long as its not room 31.
A wonderful break
We couldn't fault the attentiveness of the staff at the hotel, smiling faces help make an enjoyable stay.
Our room was spotlessly clean and the breakfasts delicious. The bed was extremely comfortable giving both my wife and I a good night's sleep. We would certainly recommend the hotel and stay with Best Western again.
Ok little tired
Room was a good size and bed very comfy was let down,
By the smell of cigarette smoke although all rooms had NO MOKING signs on doors it was very strong, the bathroom was in need of a good refurb; The breakfast was very good but the huge cobwebs on the walls of the dining room were a shame seeing as they were shoulder height so no excuse; For them to of been missed, not a bad place just tired
very nice hotel clean and tidy, close to the town and beech would of be nice to have a mirror on the wall in the room and some more plug sockets but over all very nice.
Great customer service
Stopped here as i was taking part in the Bournemouth Marathon, they even allowed me back into the room after 1pm to have a shower after i had finished the event.
