Nice rooms at inn
Excellent staff - friendly and efficient.
The room was a good size with an excellent quality DOUBLE (not king size) bed with excellent bedding. The bathroom was a reasonable size with a first class shower (not the bath that I had requested but that didn't matter). However, there was no light over the mirror and it was impossible to see well enough for putting makeup on. Also, there was no full length mirror in the room, just a medium size mirror on the table. There was a kettle with tea, coffee and lovely biscuits. No herbal teas though. Our meal in the restaurant was lovely - good quality food and generous portions. There could have been more ciders on offer, especially given the name of the place, but the one my partner chose was superb. Breakfast was very good too with very good quality ingredients in the cooked dishes.
What a lovely stay!
We had a great, relaxing time and would return again without any hesitation. The room was well set up, clean and comfortable.
The pub was delughtful, real ale, good wine and excellent food. The staff were warm and friendly, particularly helen who worked like a demon and really gave us brilliant friendly service with a smile. Thank you all at The Dean.
More than just a B & B.
We stayed for 2 nights wish could have been longer. Room was lovely
. Staff friendly very helpful to my dietary needs. Restaurant was much nicer than your usual B&B breakfast lovely lots of choice. Can't wait to go back. 1st class
Located in the small village of West Dean, this is a lovely pub with accommodation.
We stayed here on New Year's Eve as we fancied being somewhere away from the usual crowds. We were warmly welcomed by Mark and shown to our room. Eveything about it said 'quality' from the decor and furnishings, to the lovely bed linen. We then settled ourselves into the pub for a few drinks where Martin sampled the Adnams Ale as well as some of the ciders on tap. It was comfortably busy, not jam packed and although they weren't serving food that evening, they did bring out some nibbles later in the evening for everyone. Breakfast was well cooked and again, Mark was on hand to look after us. We can highly recommend the Dean Ale & Cider House, it's well worth a visit whether you're popping in for a drink or planning to stay overnight.
Pleasant design, comfortable accomodation, good food and excellent service.
Wish The Dean could have accommodated us longer but quite understandably they were fully booked.
Certainly would return. Both dinner and breakfast excellent.
Lovely place to stay, staff very courteous and helpful.
Room was clean and having separate access to the room is a bonus. Had breakfast and an evening meal, the food was brilliant.
It was our first trip to Chichester and The Dean proved ideally placed for us to explore the city and harbour.
Our room was in the converted barn overlooking the pretty patio garden. It was clean and light and with low windows and sloping ceilings felt cosy and comfortable and we had a great nights sleep. Breakfast was very tasty too. Altogether a lovely place to stay for a perfect weekend.
Nice but overpriced!
I stayed here as was attending a wedding a mile away.
The pub itself looked nice and the staff were all friendly however I think £100 for a pub B&B expensive. The room itself was nice, bed comfy. The bathroom had a shower only but was perfectly suitable. The kettle in my room didn't work and all I wanted once I got back there after the wedding was a cup of tea. I'd happily have paid £60-£70 but do think £100 per night is steep.
Saved by the staff
We had a nice stay although our room was small and very hot, with only a small window.
Apart from that it is clean and tidy and the staff are friendly
