Simple and sufficient
Clean, quiet, comfortable, unfussy --- all that I needed it to be.
Good room size but very badly maintained
The staff at the Golden Cross were quite friendly and the room was a good size, the family room having a separated second bedroom.
Its in a nice old building and a good location so could be great ... but the room was extremely shabbily maintained especially given it was quite expensive at £155 a night. There was no lampshade in the bedroom just naked bulb, one of the wooden bed slats was on the floor under the bed and the bathroom had most of the fittings falling off the wall. The bathroom ceiling also had a large patch of unpainted plaster, presumably repair after a previous leak and the shower screen corners pretty mouldy. An ok place to stay for a night's sleep which was all we were there for but pretty bad value for a shabby room so couldn't possibly recommend.
Room was small, had to ask for shower head to be replaced because it was filthy with black sludge.
Bathroom overall was pokey and had no heating, so it was freezing cold in there. There was no seat or desk to be able to sit on or at. I had to ask for a chair, but they weren't sure I could have one. I said I wasn't happy just having a bed to sit on so I was brought one of the pubs dinning chairs.
I could hear loud music from a neighbouring building until midnight, so if you wanted to go to sleep early you wouldn't be able to.
The Golden Cross
No breakfast served on Sunday they did one for us but not very good
This was quite an expensive hotel, although the room was very good and service fine
A good clean affordable place to stay in Cirencester.
With pub and food on site but plenty within reach also. Parking the only drawback as you have to walk a couple of streets over but otherwise fine.
Very Nice Accomadation friendly hotel, food fine slightly expensive.
Didn't serve breakfast which was a pain as there was cooking staff. other wise 9.5 out of 10
cosy little b&b
1st time using late rooms, and just wanted somewhere to sleep for 2 nights.
No bells and whistles needed. This place provided me with more than I needed at an almost unbelievable price. Definitely can't knock it. Bed was comfy, shower was hot and the pub downstairs serves lovely food. All in all, just what I was after.
Avoid at all costs
this place was a pit, dirty, dusty & the fridge is covered in mould.
No parking. No customer service. If you like wasting (a lot) of money then book here.
Although we checked in as booked we did NOT stay as both rooms very poor and not up to an acceptable standard - one window could not be opened, bed linen soiled, mould, no chef nor food nor breakfast and proprietor smelled heavily of drink and appeared to be having problems.
Sorry but could not recommend
