The landlady was very nice but was nowhere to be seen when it came to check out and considering that was at 10 am, I didn't think that was good service.

Also you have to order cooked breakfast the night before and there was very little offered considering the room cost £45, and it was tiny. Think box room and then think smaller. However the landlady was very nice and friendly and it did feel homely.

Thank you for your review Tara. Myself and three other guests at breakfast really enjoyed your company and are all somewhat surprised at your review. First of all you booked the small room. The fact that its called the small room really does indicate that it is a small room. In the marketing for this room it is sold as perfect for those who just need a bed for the night. The room is very well equipped, which you failed to mention, with the inclusion of free full package sky tv, hair dryer, ironing facility, tea ,coffee, & biscuits, corkscrew & bottle opener, 2lts of bottled water, freshenup wipes, ear plugs, spare blanket dressing gown towels and a very comfortable single bed with pocket sprung mattress. This room is my most popular room. However, the fact that you were hardly in your room as you went out to a party with your family and returned very late, a very small amount of time was spent in your room.


Breakfast is ordered the night before so that when you come for breakfast your breakfast is ready upon your arrival so there is not a lengthy wait, so its all geared for your convenience. The breakfast menu is very extensive but not wasteful. There is a large selection of cereals, full english breakfast, full vegetarian breakfast, scrambled, poached, boiled or fried eggs, a variety of yoghurts upon request along with danish pastries. Should any guest require anything away from the menu then that can be arranged if we are given notice. So to say that breakfast is a measly and messy affair is slightly misleading and had you read the menu in your room brochure you would have seen this. When asked what you would like you only wanted sausage bacon and egg. This was made for you had you said you wanted two sausage, two bacon along with the two eggs that I gave you then that would not have been a problem. Toast and juice along with fresh coffee, ordinary or decaf cofee, tea and decaf tea and fruit and herbal teas& hot chocolate are all also available.


You mentioned in another review that you felt the cleanliness of the room was not good, which was strange as the room was sprung clean only the day before and no one occupied the room from then till you did. All rooms are deep cleansed every friday.


As for me not being around at 10am when you checked out, I am a bed and breakfast and not a hotel. I request that guests, upon leaving breakfast, leave their key in their room door. There is no pressure and certainly wasnt on sunday for you to check out. If I'm not in the house, then my housekeeper who was on duty at the time you left and spoke to you when you were leaving is sufficient cover for the purpose of security.


With regards to the pricing of this room, the service and the package that is offered is indicative of the positioning in the market. Perhaps a travelodge or premier inn would be more suitable for you.


Ultimately Tara, had you discretely discussed your dissatisfaction with me I could have tried to remedy your issues. It is such a shame that you have taken to writing two rather negative reviews which are totally in the minority and I'm exceptionally sad that you didnt enjoy the experience despite the fact that we - myself and other guests - were so accommodating with you, the other guests most certainly do not agree with you. But like art, all experiences are subjective.
