Did the job perfectly
Friendly, clean, cosy.
Everything you want from a simple hotel.
Decent little hotel
Perfectly acceptable, nothing glamorous but provided what we needed for a night away.
Very compact room which was fine for us but others may find too small (we stayed in a small double). The lady at reception was very nice and helpful with the parking which is always tricky in Clifton. I'd consider it Abit overpriced since breakfast isn't included, but you have to consider that Bristol, and especially Clifton, isn't cheap. There are loads of really lovely local cafes if you chose to find breakfast yourself :) it got a little noisy in the morning as the traffic started due to the single glazing but that's true of any property in Clifton.
Stayed in single room for one night.
Room was serviceable but a bit like a monastic cell. Hotel is in good location in Clifton and is in nice old building although feels like it's seen better days. Still good value for money and no real complaints about room or food..
Pleasant House in Square location. Good for spring/autumn value for money small hotel
All very reasonable and unfussy.
Pretty location. Better ask for the best room in the house if you're hoping to be in your room at all. We were not. Pretty in Spring I'd say. Probably hot room in Summer. Far more traffic (buses) than you'd expect in a Square. Very noisy from early morning. Very good breakfast. Catered well for vegetarians/wheat free. Happy & personable staff. Helpful but not overly English about it. Unfussed. Very reasonable. Not The Ritz. But doesnt claim to be. Won't be disappointed. Won't set your world alight. Good for business trip with leafy feel. Better than many small hotels. Privacy afforded.
Friendly staff, excellent location, pleasant room
Good hotel for central Bristol
Finding a cheap, half-decent hotel in Bristol is akin to finding rocking-horse poop; but VSH manages it pretty well.
It's nicely located just outside Clifton village, and a brisk walk down to the Triangle/University. So far so good. The hotel is split across two buildings, big old Victorian builds, so things like wifi and water pressure 'can' be a little hit and miss. The bathroom and bedrooms were all very clean, although might want to opt for plain carpet or curtains at some point. It's pattern clashing joy. Hotel is on the main road into Clifton, so is busy until 1030pm - but then Clifton goes to sleep, so you can too. As with all hotel breakfasts, get yourself down early to avoid food that was freshly prepared at 7am (and is delicious at the time), looking a bit sad and over warmed. Parking onsite is 5quid/day which I wasn't told when I checked in, disappointingly; but there's evening parking on the Fosseway behind the hotel.. Note to hotel - turn on wireless N mode on your kit - things have moved on a bit!
Ideally placed for what we wanted as my husband recovering from Chemotheraphy so didn't want to do too much walking.
However stayed in nicely places re accommodation style this year for less money. Mess up with booking but not hotels fault and they were extremely helpful in resolving.
Very friendly & clean hotel
Very friendly & accommodating reception staff.
Lovely hotel in great location with Clifton cafes a few minutes walk away and within easy reach of town centre.
Very well positioned for city centre and the Clifton village restaurants and shops.
Great location and pleasant room. Good choice of items for breakfast. Hope to go again.
