Mini break in Scarborough
Our stay at the Mansion house was amazing from the minute we arrived - (2 hours early) to the minute we left.
We were greeted warmly by Alison and shown to our apartment immediately even though we arrived early. Alison brought us some fresh milk so we could have a hot drink on arrival. Everything was spotlessly clean and beautifully appointed. The views from the apartment were fabulous even though it was raining when we arrived. The breakfast was exceptional both in quality and choice. The breakfast staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble for them, even when my elderly mum asked for something that wasn't on the menu. So glad we found this gem - only sorry we couldn't stay longer but already planning to return for an Easter break. Thank you to all the staff.
Not worth the money for a room at the back
This is a lovely Edwardian building with an excellent breakfast and friendly staff.
However, we paid £98 for our room and faced issues that left us very disappointed. The hotel has no land at the back so when we were given our room instead of a stunning sea views we looked out onto a high brick wall. The room was very small, you could hardly fit one person into the bathroom and although it is pleasantly decorated it is not boutique as suggested. Cleanliness was an issue, the room had obviously not been painted for some time, the bath seal was black and the shower curtain needed replacing. The hotel is high up on the cliff so you will struggle if you are not able bodied although there is a funicular lift from sea level to the Esplanade but check opening times. If you take the car note that you will struggle to gain a parking space near the hotel at peak times. Such a shame.
