Take Pot Luck With These Apartments!
There are several apartments spread around central Cheltenham, and they are all different (hence the varied reviews I suspect).
I got a deal price of £62 through LateRooms, and was allocated an apartment on arrival. This turned out to be in the basement of a building in Albion Street about 100 yards away. The overall impression of this apartment and the building it was part of, was that it was in need of further updating and some basic maintenance. It was conveniently located, but then Cheltenham is not a huge town so many others are equally convenient. The accommodation comprised a decent sized lounge-diner with kitchen area, a corridor, a miniscule rather whiffy single bedroom (which I didn't need), and a rather cramped double with a gas boiler in the built-in wardrobe and a sash window which refused to stay open without a wedge which I made up. All windows were single-glazed and in need of painting. The worst shock was the bath. It may have had masonry fall into it during a revamp, as the end was pitted with tiny dark speckles, which was a bit off-putting. They really should replace it. Otherwise the facilities are good, the Wi-Fi worked, as did the fridge and TV. Not a place to take your girlfriend or to impress your wife, but adequate and not expensive for Cheltenham.
Good in, bad out
It was so disappointing to arrive into the building and follow huge stains up the cheap communal hall carpet to our flat.
The flat itself was decent, and it was relieving to shut the door and the hallway out, although someone had stolen the upholstery insider the 'sofa' and one of the dining chairs needed a steam clean. I've actually stayed at the hotel before by chance, and the main hotel is still being covered by a telling manufactured scent to disguise the (one assumes cigarette) stale smell. Terrible street off the main drag, lovely staff, perfectly acceptable inside the rooms.
