About the hotel
The Saracens Head offers accommodation with 12 comfortable bedrooms, each with en suite bathrooms, televisions, telephones and tea-making facilities. Though the archway at the front of the building which led to the yard at the rear has now been replaced with an imposing doorway, it is not difficult to imagine how it must have been a century or two ago when it looked out across a busy scene in Market Square. The Saracens Head was certainly in use as an inn of some kind in 1825 and is probably much older.
Just how old has sadly not been recorded, but it has been suggested that it was once part of the local manor and stands on the site of an old monastery. There is also believed to be a tunnel (now bricked up) which leads from the cellar, under Market Square and towards St Michael's Church.

Have stayed at the Saracens several times now, & always try & stay there if needing accommodation in the Swindon area.
Room 11 this time. Perfectly adequate but could use a small desk & chair to work with a laptop from. Range of ales & food always good & fantastic cooked (veggie) breakfast.
overall not bad, accomodation is a little tired and with it being an old building its a bit creaky and windows dont keep out much noise even when shut.
biggest downside of the rooms is the macerator style toilets, bloody things grind away at random moments even when not flushed which is a bit annoying if your a light sleeper. also, with it being a locals pub too,can be a bit noisy at nights which doesnt help if you want an early night.food though was great, breakfast being the best
