Disappointed in food
Having checked out the menu on-line, was disappointed that both the duck confit didn't feature for dinner, nor the eggs benedict for breakfast.
Had looked forward to both. For dinner I settled for rib....out of a packet, tough as boots and no meat. My husband had some chicken dish which he said was adequate. Breakfast was fine - minus the eggs benedict as promised.
Would stay again
We had a lovely stay at the red lion for a 3 night stay in the small town of Wareham.
Upon arrival we were really impressed with how the bar looked and also the amount of people that were there (giving it credit that it must be a nice place to have a drink/eat).
We did manage to get a parking space but parking is not guaranteed. We were lucky and always managed to get parked.
Our host, Lisa, was kind and attentive - on explaining i was pregnant she carried my cases up to the room - on first inspection the room was lovely - big room with a dressing table and lovely big bathroom with shower and bath - we were left to our own devices and put our bags down and had some food.
The food was lovely and came quickly - I had a few sides as I am a fussy eater and my partner had a main meal that was delicious - we were too full for pudding.
Overall we were really impressed there were just a few things that let this hotel down;
- we stayed in room 9 which is right above the bar - when people are scraping bar stools along the floor you can hear it as the bar didn't shut until 11 no sleep before then
- the windows are very thin and you can hear the traffic outside - I think if the windows were replaced this would limit the noise from the cars and the clock tower.
- we were woken up at 6.30 every morning from the water tank that would run for about 15 mins - we normally got back to sleep again after it had finished.
- Breakfast was amazing with a good selection of fruit, yoghurt and cooked breakfast but no beans with the breakfast.
Having said this we would stay at this hotel again there were just a few niggily things that we encountered. When we asked for fresh towels and water this was done immediately which is brilliant.
