Disappointed and dirty
Was very disappointed with this booking.
Normally bookings through laterooms are spot on. Firstly my flight was delayed, so out of courtesy I phone the hotel to advise them I would be arriving later than expected. I was told immediately on the phone there would be a late surcharge of £10 for each hour of lateness. I protested this on the phone as I've never heard of anything so absurd and pointed out it wasn't stated on their T&C and that the lateness was beyond my control. They said they would review this on my arrival. When I arrived the attendee moaned about the lateness and made me feel extremely uncomfortable with his hugging and puffing but he did waive the £10 lateness surcharge.
He showed me to my room and explained where breakfast was and left me to it. The room was shocking. Wallpaper was peeling off, cobwebs in ceiling corner and corners of the floor. The bedside table was filthy dust had settled on the surface and it hadn't been cleaned for a while as its sticky and greasy. The furniture was falling to pieces. I nearly fell of my chair as it only had one screw in the base to keep it together. The room was stuff and only had a small fan on the table for air. I was at the front of the building on the main road, as it was only sash windows with no lock I didn't feel very safe cos it did close properly and allowed in a lot of noise from traffic all night. My sheets didn't look very clean with black specks of dust on it, which contributed to an even more uncomfortable stay. Won't be visiting again. I have plenty of photos to prove it too.
A Bad Night's Sleep
This was without doubt the noisiest hotel I have ever stayed at and I have stayed in Kabul, Baghdad and Basrah.
Our room, which was single-glazed, was directly next to what must be one of the busiest road junctions in Somerset and even though our stay was a Saturday evening the traffic was relentless. Added to this the Pub's smoking area was directly below our window and the constant loud talking and foul language even out did the volume on the TV. In the early hours there were then two people who had been 'locked out' banging loudly on the front doors. On a positive note we were met in the morning at breakfast by the Chef who was a delightful young man who acknowledged that the noise was indeed a problem. He also cooked an excellent breakfast. All in all if you want a relaxing good night's sleep find somewhere else.
