Stay prior to attending RIAT at Fairford

I booked this for a night stop prior to my son and husband spending a day at the Fairford Air Tattoo.

We had 2 rooms and I was very pleasantly surprised that their rates weren't inflated for this very busy time. Four of us ate on the Thursday evening and we were all pleased that there were chefs dishes rather than the usual chain menu. The food was very good and we did indulge ourselves with the Daily offer of 'all puds just £2'. I had the, obviously homemade, banana bread and butter pudding, very naughty but delicious. In anticipation of the pudding I ordered the 'small' steak and ale pie. Again, a very pleasant surprise that it was a slice from, what certainly appeared to be a large homemade pie, plenty of meat and very tasty. Next morning the boys had breakfast at the earliest time possible then departed for the show. Myself and my sons girlfriend had breakfast at a more leisurely time. The only possible area of concern I would make is you are asked to fill in a form with your breakfast order before 11pm the previous evening. We didn't have a problem with this but I understand some people may be put off. Oh, a minor, second, the top floor rooms are accessed by a fairly narrow and steep staircase, tricky with luggage and with the traditional stone walls wi-fi was intermittent (but there was a convenient chair by the window which gave an immediate connection. The pub itself is set in a beautiful little village in the Cotswold Water Park area and we took a lovely evening walk along the river and through the village before dinner. Having an afternoon drink in the garden afforded us great views of the arriving aircraft.

Friendly, popular village pub and B & B

Spent 5 days at the Eliot.

The room was a little small and dated in the attic on the 2nd floor and the bath and shower a challenge for me as a 6'2 man but all in all it was a good value stay. Staff and owners were helpful and friendly throughout and the breakfasts and complementary drinks in the room were very good. The evening specials were real value for money and the choice and quality of the real ales excellent.
