Quaint and pleasant establishment near railway station and town centre
Town centre pub or hotel.
The first impression as you enter from the main street is that it is a pub. On entering you find that the entrance to the rooms is through a door out of the bar. Perhaps initially a little unpromising. But the room I had booked was good - a double (to accommodate just myself) and as such was fine but it was quite small - distinctly tight for two people. Decent-sized bathroom and all very quaint with beams and uneven floor. Nespresso machine in the room. Perfectly clean with adequate and tastful lighting. Rooms accessed by stairs. In spite of the bar downstairs it was quiet. Food was excellent and far better than many hotels (20% off the food price for residents was an added bonus) Drinks were rather expensive but this may have been a good thing as the pricing could have deterred dedicated town-centre drinkers. Continental breakfast included the best croissants I have ever tasted. I would certainly stay again.
Enjoyed a good break
Our stay at the Elephant was excellent in most respects.
The only improvement that could be made would be for a proper wardrobe to be provided in the room with more hangers. We would definitely stay there again.
