Very disappointing & uncomfortable
I stayed last Monday night.
The bar area was occupied by a highly offensive, very drunk village and his giggling cohorts who made it too uncomfortable to stay there. When I mentioned this to the receptionist the following morning I was told he had been banned several times. Instead of being able to enjoy a meal there I ate a picnic. The bed was comfortable, but the room carpet had a very dusty margin around the perimeter. I felt quite wheezy in the morning. The bathroom was clean but the extractor didn't seem to work. The room was at the front of the hotel and there was much street noise of raised voices and banging of doors from 6am. The breakfast was good.
Excellent Hotel in the middle of Upton Upon Severn
Enjoyed a very nice weekend break at this hotel.
The room was very comfortable and spotlessly clean. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. The food ( Breakfast and a Bar meal) was very good. I will definitely be returning to this hotel and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
Nice hotel with friendly staff but noisy
On the high street in Upton this hotel could be brilliant with nice friendly staff.
What spoilt it for us was the loud shouting and motorcar noise outside our (back) room until 2:00am from the local youth but also departing late night drinkers from the hotel itself. Also, we were above the kitchen and an extractor fan kicked in and out all night about every ten minutes or so a bit like a fridge going on and off - quite disturbing.
Hotel staff very helpful and friendly.
They seem happy to work there. Food quality is excellent. The chefs are VERY good. Rooms are comfortable and well appointed. We would be happy to stay there again.
White Lion excellent value for money
Our stay at the historic White Lion was very enjoyable.
The staff were friendly and efficient. Our room was very comfortable - and peaceful - so we had a good night's sleep, after a lovely meal in the restaurant. Breakfast was excellent and we would be happy to stay again. Do agree with some previous reviews that the decor and lighting - especially in our bathroom - could do with some refreshing, but this did not spoil our enjoyment of our stay.
Fabulous hotel in gorgeous historic town
Lovely friendly helpful staff.
Very old building beautifully kept. Excellent restaurant with wonderful food at reasonable prices. Quiet atmosphere in high street of traditional town. Ideal for single travellers or couples. Probably not lively enough for youngsters. Plenty to do in area.
The White Lion Hotel
Lovely room, excellent service and hospitality.
En suite bathroom disappointing. Not terrible but in need on a freshen up. Location of hotel fantastic though.
Good value and with character
Friendly, knowledgeable staff.
This country hotel is proud of its past and present and offers good value in accommodation. Not palatial, but comfortable and adequate. No cutting corners in the kitchen either. Hope to visit again!
Room was nice.
We knew it would be a little compact. Room and all areas very clean. Some fittings and fixtures a little dated. One bed side light wasn't working but was fixed. Staff very helpful - a little stretched at times as they were covering the dining room and reception. Very good value for money. Breakfast was superb - very generous portions. Ate in the dining room both nights. First night vegetables were over cooked but overall the meal was very good and very generous in portions. Second night meal was superb - couldn't be faulted in any way. Definitely recommended as the place to eat in the town
Only criticism was the room overlooked the high street and was noisy. There are a group of skateboarders who loiter right outside the hotel and the click clack of the skateboards was distracting - the hotel needs to have them moved on as they are a nuisance.
I was a little surprised by the rooms - I expected more, altho it was adequite.
Bathroom was very nice tho'. The saving grace was the restaurant - really good food & a reasonable wine list
