Nice room but waiting 15 min for hot water too come through not good!!!
Arrived early and enquired about leaving car at hotel whilst we went into Liverpool..
was very surprised to be checked in early and getting upgraded room, very nice overlooking the gardens. However trying to have a shower before going for evening meal proved to be very lengthy as no hot water was coming through, phoned reception whoasked if we had ran water..yes we had, said she would ring back, leaving water running rang again as she didn't ring back..was informed boiler along way from room and we might have to change room . However after 15 min of water running shower we had hot water...then discovered we only had 1 small bath towel and a hand towel for 2 of us!. Staff were helpful but as only one on duty couldn't leave the desk to run around helping guests.. Evening meal was like very cheap pub food. Breakfast was basic, nothing to rave about.
room ok mattress not good didn't sleep very well, on arrival do to wedding reception couldn't get drink bar closed same in evening.
unlikely we would return
I enjoyed my stay at the Devonshire House.
The room, food and service were all fine. I would stay again without any hesitation.
Like many before me I thought the room was adequate but a bit tired, however I had realistic expectations and was more than happy with my night away from the kids.
The Devonshire House Hotel
Hotel room 'tired' but ok for the money.
My only complaint was a smell of urine around the toilet pan when I first entered the room. This would suggest a poor cleaning regime. On a previous stay at this hotel there was the same problem.
I was looking for a hotel for an overnight stay between two days of meetings.
The Devonshire offers great value in a convenient location.
The Devonshire House Hotel
We are travelling the uk and only need a clean room with wifi and breakfast included for one night.
For the price it suited our needs as this was the only place that had a vacancy. Rooms are basic but has all facilities. Reception area chairs had stains that need cleaning, rear entrance is smoking area and has not had the area cleaned in a long time, but everywhere. Just little things all over that wouldnt take much to fix and make the place look more appealing. Place has character but needs some love.
Basic, but it works.
The Devonshire House is in need of a major update but the room we had was clean and of a reasonable size.
Initially, we were given a room with no shower, only a bath, but this was remedied straight away and we were moved. The staff are friendly and helpful both at reception and at breakfast in the restaurant. Breakfast is ok if you like cooked full English, but there is little in the way of a more continental choice... no muesli or fresh fruit in sight!. For a one night stay this hotel is fine but don't expect any frills or luxuries.
For Aintree Races
The drive to the hotel doesn't fill you with confidence so very pleasantly surprised when behind the petrol station lurks the Devonshire.
Large grounds and a very welcoming reception area with extremely helpful and welcoming staff.
The room was big although dated (but who cares really) and the bar area well stocked. £10 cab ride into town so location perfect too. Perhaps not a venue for a romantic weekend although at these rates you can splash the cash on everything else. I will be back next year for more of the same please.
Hotel didnt look like it did on pictures
very old and no way of getting drinks in reception as vending machine didnt work and when asked reception advised they cant help as they dont own it
