Hotel looked very nice .Friendly staff.Room a bit tired.Lovely spa though.Food bit over priced.
Good value for money but ....
Initially on arrival, unable to take a shower as problem with hot water but this was quickly resolved.
Mattress was quite hard and the pillows too. Hamburger meal in bar was unsatisfactory.
Stay over for Chester shopping
The hotel is modern and clean.
The service was adequate. The rooms comfortable and of a fair size. The bed was very comfortable indeed. The bathroom was clean but was showing it's age. The toilet was difficult to flush and there was no shower screen to protect the floor which became quite wet and slippy after anyone used the shower. On a plus point, the supplied toiletries were excellent, with deodorant and toothpaste in addition to the usual shower and hair gel. The bar was contemporary in design and very expensive which came as no surprise. We did not have dinner in restaurant but did choose the breakfast which was very busy. We waited in line for 10 minutes without any explanation from the staff as to how long we would be expected to wait. The choice was okay but the quality was fairly poor, for example some of the hot food was dry because it had been left on the hotplate for too long. Overall the stay was good but the price paid far exceeded the quality of the hotel. 45 minutes walk into the centre which if closer might have excused the high price.
Mercure Chester stay
Unfortunately not as good as our last visits.
2 single beds pushed together for a 'double' room
Window catch broken so open all night
Most annoying was that price was pushed up by ten pounds whilst in middle of booking. This we had no option to pay but was infuriating.
Only downfall was the room service for food was poor quality.
It was over priced for small meals and a £5 tray charge which is over the top.
Huge comfy bed.
Perfect place for a relaxing weekend
The room adequate and clean, staff friendly and polite.
The breakfast was the worst I have had in 20 of travelling. Cereals were cheap and tasteless the sausages were meant to be Cumberland, these were again tasteless. Breakfast spoiled a pleasant overnight stop. I will not use this hotel again.
Mercure Chester Abbots Well Hotel
Staff were excellent and nothing was too much bother.
They were especially helpful with dietary requirements.
reception staff very helpful
Convenient city location for a short break
Ideal location for those wishing to access Chester by public transport as Park and ride was 100 yards away.
Ticket is £2 return into city centre. Rooms in hotel were average size and clean. Breakfast was fine but evening meals are expensive and not great (avoid the pies). Rooms were a bit noisy due to traffic. Staff were friendly.
