Nice hotel needs more attention to detail
I stayed here overnight while away on a conference and the experience came to around 180 pounds. I'm happy to pay that kind of money when I get good service, excellent food and beautiful accommodation.
In this case the service was good, not outstanding. The food was above average, hot, well made and tasty, it was well prepared though uninspiring. At this level I do expect a more refined menu that uses seasonal produce and presents it beautifully. In this case it was good wholesome home food.
The bedrooms though were below par, they were decorated nicely, but there was poor ventilation and no air conditioning, low level lighting and no working desk light. The only seating was an office desk, which left just the bed to sit on in comfort. The TV had no guide, or did the hotel for that matter, it was clean if overall a little tired. The space which let this hotel down were the bathrooms, mine was small, poorly thought out and not very well maintained. The toilet seat had colour age, the nooks and crannies were orange and the tiles were late 90's old world style. Add to that the shower was low pressured and the head was oversized, and the bath too small for comfort and it left me feeling I had been very short changed.
I would have happily pay around 100-120 pounds for what I received, but at 180 they were well below the quality expected. At 180 the hotel competes with the likes of hand picked hotels, and quite frankly they leave you in their wake in all areas.
I think this hotel either needs some investment or to be more realistic about its pricing policy. I do not have any intention of returning here in the near future.

Great choice!
We stayed here after a cross Chanel ferry crossing on our way to the north west as the location was convenient and very quiet. Delighted with the comfort and cleanliness of the room, huge TV and lovely modern bathroom. The hotel kindly made us sandwiches for our late arrival and the selection of food at breakfast was good. Excellent value for money

Great last minute hotel booking
Booked this hotel at 3pm & was in my room by 8pm. Typical last minute business booking.
Shame it was a whistle stop visit because I would like to have stayed longer and used the pool.
Room service very good value for money.

A five foot wide bed may be fine for single occupancy but not for two people. No dressing table and inadequate wardrobe space. Housekeeping (cleanliness) standards poor.
Breakfast buffet a scrum.
Hotel imposed a £2.50 charge for using a credit card which I refused to pay as it was not mentioned/quoted on the booking conditions of Late Rooms.

Comfortable stay
We stayed one night. A bit far out if you haven't got a car, particularly from Oxford. We had to rely on a taxi for a night out, which was not cheap.
The hotel was comfy and friendly. We used the swimming pool and spa, but were disappointed that the jacuzzi was monopolised by families with young children who messed about splashing and playing. Perhaps there should be a rule about children in the jacuzzi - ie only if well behaved and slightly older, or one at a time. This did spoil our spa experience.
Breakfast was very good.
