Tired hotel but good location
Positive: This hotel is in a great location
Negatives: Tired hotel in need of a revamp, not value for money, staff were unhelpful and slow on reception
One day holiday
Ivy all over the windows, road outside was very noisy, cooked breakfast was well done not in a good way and ceiling in the bedroom was leaking.
we had breakfast both days we stayed and it was lovely I especially enjoyed the cold buffet selections .
We didn't have lunch or dinner there however we did have a drink and I thought at £10 for 2 drinks it was a bit steep. There was no air conditioning in the room and the towel radiator was on full and we were not able to switch it off. The temperature was uncomfortable and both me and my partner struggled sleep because of this. The distance from the town was ideal as it only took around 5 minutes to get there. I would stay again in a cooler month as the rooms were too uncomfortable with the summer heat unless air conditioning was introduced to the rooms.
After reading a few reviews I was concerned our stay might not be up to standard.
But it was. We found the staff welcoming and friendly. We booked on a saver option which included a Chester Zoo pass and inclusive breakfast. These worked out well for us, and the following day we utilised the pool and gym facilities (which were available to us all day, had we wished) at no charge. Even towels were included. The rooms were pleasant, and far nicer than the usual Premier Inn or Travelodge type. Bottom line. - I would quite happily book to go there again
stay was fine room nice and clean
The reviews for the hotel seem to take the Marmite approach; either the reviewer loved it or hated it.
So with this in mind, I booked a family room for my two teens and I, and when we arrived we were pleasantly surprised. The staff were lovely and very helpful, the room large, clean and airy. The food in the restaurant was excellent, and the manager knew his cellar well. All-in, it was a pleasurable stay and extremely good value.
Very tired hotel, given disabled room with no explanation, in need of big overhaul Food poor, didn't have 2 bottles of wine we chose Staff at reception not very welcoming.
Very disappointed. Won't be going back
Excellent stay.beautiful hotel.

Brook mollington review
Hotel staff friendly although on arrival the male receptionist on duty that day was a little confused and didn't seem to be sure of the system.
I had booked in advance but he wanted to take a further payment. I was staying with a friend and had requested a twin room but we were given a double. This was soon sorted with no trouble. Returned to our hotel that evening after a lovely day at the races and decided to have a cocktail in the lounge. The lady behind the bar didnt know how to mix the cocktail we requested and asked her supervisor to show her how to do it, he was very rude and abrupt with her which was very unnecessary . He then proceeded to ask another bar staff member to get him some of the ingredients he wanted, this young man was called Kyle but the supervisor kept on calling him Kylie which I thought was very degrading to the young man. He mixed us our cocktail and I have to say it was the worse mojito I have ever had, he poured them into small tumblers and the remainder of the cocktail was left behind in the shaker I had to ask for the remainder of it as we had paid nearly 14.00 for the cocktails. This is my only real grumble of the staff at the hotel, overall a very nice hotel perhaps a little tired in places. Could do with some ashtrays outside on the tables, cigarette butts underneath the tables the following morning which we could see as we were eating our breakfast, not very pleasant. Nice area, very convenient for chester, would stay again but don't think I would allow the bloke behind the bar to talk to anyone like that again.
