Classically comfortable
The entrance to the hotel is a little underwhelming and, compared to my last visit several years ago, could do with smartening up. Great King Street is looking a little 'tired' overall, although this is not uncommon in an area with a fairly transient population and high percentage of rented properties. That aside, the hotel makes a fine base for business or pleasure. Attentive staff, excellent food, and comfortable surroundings.

Fabulous short break
We had a fabulous, far too short as it turned out stay in Edinburgh made even more enjoyable by this equally fabulous and charming old style (In the nicest possible way) hotel.
Beautiful surroundings, lovely congenial and helpful staff and a beautiful room close to everything we wanted to see and do.
Excellent meals and breakfast, the whole experience was relaxing and enjoyable from start to finish.

Excellent location for a quiet, special break.
Recommend the hotel for all types of travellers, we found the experience special and although you could be slightly negative about inexperienced team members being trained, all were charming and eager to help. Lovely break very relaxing and made to feel very special.
