Lovely staff hotel nice but room bit shabby at the doorway but nice clean bathroom and comfy bed
A returning visit
We have stayed here several times as our daughter lives in the area.
The fact that we return shows that we are happy with the accommodation. I would add that over the last year the rooms have been refurbished and the breakfasts have improved. The hotel is adjacent to Gart Navel hospital and the car park is used by non-hotel guests. It can be busy during the day although we had no problem parking and parking is free to hotel guests.
smelly, noisey and slow service
At first sight of the Pond Hotel, my initial thoughts were "bog standard accommodation".
On entering I felt it was clean, smart and the receptionist very helpful. However, the room had a musty smell to it. Like it had been a smoking room, yet the receptionist assured me it was not. The other non - smoking rooms had signs stating they were none smoking but our room didn't. The maid did assist by giving us a air freshener to spray nut really that was his Job to do such a thing. So we had to keep the window open.
Also there was a party in the function suite which went on until late with thumping music which meant we couldn't relax until after midnight and did give me quite a headache.
We asked room service for an ice bucket, to which they replied "we are very busy at the moment, but if you'd like to come down and collect it?" I said no and would like it delivered to my room. This took approximately 20 minutes to be delivered.
The staff were very friendly but service was slow.
I definitely would not stop there again, nor would I recommend this hotel to anyone.
Perfectly adequate hotel, good breakfast, friendly staff.
Can be a little noisy in first floor rooms when a band is playing in function room downstairs.
Middle of Brum
At £65 a night prebooked weeks in advance, I can't complain about the hotel itself.
Just sort out the car park. Yes, it's close, but why erect what can only be described as a garden fence across the quickest access. It means you have to walk around a block. It's just a nuisance and immediately puts you in a bad mood after a long trip. It's not far, but why make us walk all the way round, when the car park entrance and hotel entrance are less than 50 metres from each other. I go to the gym twice a week and don't need hotels inviting more exercise.
Hotel nice and quiet, staff very friendly and helpful, rooms were very hot although there were fans available from reception.
We ate in restaurant and food was nice and not too expensive. Easy to get into city centre on public transport. Rather expensive for a nights stay however we were there for the commonwealth games so was to be expected. Would use the hotel again.
Clean and comfortable
Very nice hotel, very clean and comfortable.
Bedroom was good although the bathroom was very small.
The hotel was fantastic, the staff very helpful.
The only issue was I thought it was only a few mins from city centre but in actual fact it was a £10 taxi trip. I'd happy stay again thought.
Pond Hotel Glasgow.
Really nice hotel, very attentive staff and perfect position in the right area.
A little gem
The Pond was a pleasant surprise.
From the outside (location and style of building) your expectations are not too high, but inside you are greeted with a warm welcoming hotel, which gave me one of the cleanest and fresh rooms I have had in a long time. Not a large room and the bathroom was compact, but it was comfortable had everything you needed, and came with FREE WiFi. Well done Pond!
