Good hotel, great spa
This hotel is well located in the centre of St.Helens. The rooms are large and clean although did smell of smoke.
There is a great spar which has a pool, sauna, steam room and jacuzzi . There is also a well equipped gym which are all free to hotel guests.

Room only (plus hotel welcomed Dogs at £10 per night)
Friendly welcome by female receptionists upon arrival.
Room basic but clean.
Bathroom clean but could do with bath panel replacing.
Had room service for dinner as we had our dog with us, and hotel policy does not allow dogs to be left alone in room! Room service was 15/20 mins late than time it was ordered for...
Food basic but acceptable.
Would I stay again??? Yes as there's not many places who accept canines.
Overall I'd rate 3.5 out of 5
Staff were most welcoming and always coming across as happy.
Room only paid £70
Think this was expensive for what it was!

On returning to hotel late at night there was a lot of bottles and broken glass outside the main entrance giving the impression that there had been problems in the wedding being held there as it looked as if people had been throwing bottles around

Decent Clean and Pleasant
Booked as few decent hotels in area. Great large clean room - recently and nicely refurbished. Central location to the centre of town with free parking. Couldn't fault hotel. Did not eat there so can't comment on food etc

St. Helens
Hotel is undergoing a major refurb, once i was eventually able to access my room (room key never worked, had to take all luggage back down to reception to get key processed and same thing happened again! eventually moved to another room. Very nice room, Modernised with a lovely bathroom (door lock not working - again teething problems with refurb)! Very comfy large bed.
Lovely freshly cooked breakfast.

Good hotel, cleaners need to clean the toilets though...
We had 2 rooms booked and both toilets in the room's were very dirty and smelly, I reported one room, but not the other as there wasn't any point, perhaps we were just unfortunate. Reception were very apologetic though and their service was excellent, the cleaners however need to check the rooms over properly before handing them over.
