A nice quiet place to stay with excellent service and a good hearty cooked breakfast.
An unusual experience
The Hotel is very different to what I had imagined.
The picture on the website shows the Old Rectory but in reality this is only a small part of the whole. Most of the rooms appear to be in an annex which is best accessed via a three minute walk across the car park. There may be another route but we weren't shown that way. On arrival we were greeted by a very friendly lady who dealt with our booking and gave us the room key. We were then shown across the car park to room 22. On first impression the room seemed reasonable. It was rather cold and the lady explained that we needed to put the key into a slot. This we did repeatedly but room did not get any warmer. In the end after phoning reception a man came and turned on a switch and the radiator came on. Unfortunately this did not apply to the bathroom which was incredibly cold throughout the whole of our stay. Breakfast is served 7.30 - 9am every day. This may be reasonable during the week if there are lots of business customers but decidedly harsh for a Sunday. In order to avoid rising too early on a Sunday we opted for room service. On making the call we were surprised to be told that room service was not available as they were too busy. I explained that I had checked the night before that room service would be OK for Sunday morning. On hearing this the gentleman in question said 'well we will do our best for you then'. He didn't seem very happy about it though. Once it arrived the breakfast was well presented, tasty and nicely cooked. One of the things we enjoyed about the room was it had some nice scatter cushions on the bed which came in useful whilst watching tv. For some reason these were removed from the room and never returned!. The shower mat suffered the same fate. Special mention must be made of the bathroom. Apart from being cold, it is also rather hazardous. One reason for this is the burning hot towel rail sited two inches from the side of the toilet. The other is that the bathroom cabinet is only two foot above the sink. This meant that every time we used the bathroom we felt very blessed that we didn't experience severe burns or a head injury. Attempting to clean my teeth without knocking myself out was a true work of art. All in all a very unusual experience!
Great short stay
All staff very friendly and helpful.
Room was lovely with unexpected four poster bed. We had the set meal on the saturday night which was very nice and well worth the money. Breakfast good too. Enjoyed our stay.

An enjoyable stay.
I very much enjoyed spending the night at this hotel although I was only there a matter of hours.
I arrived around 11pm on the evening of my stay and after ring the front desk bell was greeted by a very helpful man who took the effort to show me to my room and also opened up the residents bar for my colleague and myself. The beds were very comfortable and the shower was refreshingly powerful.
The breakfast was a little limited but this is being very picky. All in all a great stay and would come back again.
