Great location, ok room, poor customer service!
Having never been to Chester before, my girlfriend and I booked this hotel as it was a reasonably priced 4* accommodation in walking distance from Chester city centre.
We arrived at roughly 6pm on the evening of our check in to be stood outside for five minutes ringing the bell to get someone's attention, we finally were seen to and checked in and asked what they would recommend to do in Chester. Our reply "do what you want really", which obviously didn't help as we haven't been to Chester before.
The room itself was clean, the bed relatively comfortable and ok for a two night break. The problem we did have, which was no fault of the hotel, was the other guests. On the first night they came back drunk at 3am trying to get into our room and waking us up and the second night they couldn't get into the hotel at 4am so they rang the doorbell repeatedly and still made a lot of noise outside the door. Again, I stress this was no fault of the hotels but if you struggle sleeping anyway, any noise is reverberated around the floor at which guest stay meaning you're woken several times. I couldn't fault the full English breakfast each morning though there was a lack of options as to other breakfast options. My main problem came as we were leaving the hotel, thinking that the bill had been settled through my Late Rooms booking as they asked for my card details and I presumed that this was settled. Though as we courteously said bye to the hosts, we were asked to pay the bill which I found uncomfortable and questioned because I was under the impression that I paid. I also did not want my girlfriend to know the price as I booked it as a gift to her. Even if the bill had to be paid at the hotel, I would of liked to know this when I arrived or at some point during my stay so it wouldn't come as such a shock when attempting to leave. Overall, there were many other minor issues we had with our experience at the hotel but Chester is such a fantastic place that it took nothing away from our weekend away. I would visit Chester again, I would just stay at different accommodation.
The ideal place to stay
We booked this last min as we were let down by one of the many premier inns in Chester.
What a bargain not only a bargain price, it was in an ideal spot close to the city centre. The house was spotlessly clean, warm and cosy, very friendly hosts and to top it off a fab tasty breakfast !. we defiantly will be revisiting!!
Stayed on Saturday for one night the room was lovely bed was comfy didn't manage to get up in time for breakfast but the owner made us toast and juice excellent customer service definitely will be booking again.
I've also given their number to a friend who will be booking soon.
Very pleasant property.
Lovely breakfast and great hosts. Brilliant location for walking into Chester. Rooms were a bit on the small side but adequate for sleeping in. Slight confusion over DVD or Video in room, there wasn't. Only a problem in that if we'd known we could have brought a portable player. No wifi in room though free wifi is advertised, maybe useful to state limited access. Stud walls were very thin. Kept awake a few hours listening to another rooms extractor fan whirring into the wee small hours. (They'd obviously left bathroom light/fan on) Just little things that may be useful to others. Except for the broken sleep, didn't spoil our stay. (Would stay again but in a different room!)
Summary, great hosts, great location to town, great breakfast. Take ear plugs & sit in guest lounge for wifi.
The friendly owners offer excellent hospitality.
The beautiful Victorian dining room offers a glimpse into older times, while the single room I stayed in was immaculate with modern comfortable design. The hotel's close proximity to the city centre and easy parking makes it a great place for a city break.
Good family run Guest House. Warm welcome from the owners. recommend to anyone.
Owners really warm and friendly.
Easy walk into Chester town. Was given good advice when needed. Good clean room, no complaints at all. Excellent breakfast.

Kings Guest house was chosen for its ideal location a few minutes walk from Old Dee Bridge. Clean, comfortable rooms, excellent breakfast and friendly owners. I would not hesitate to stay there again and have already passed details on to friends and family.
