Only worth it if you get it cheap
Although travelling alone I booked a double room as I didn't want a single bed.
Manager assumed I was a couple and put me in a self catering apartment that was actually larger than my flat at home. For what I paid it was fantastic value but not worth the full price he quoted me. Great views and adequate facilities though needs updating. The board says they are open all year round but there was no central heating and fan heater provided was not enough for winter. There is a maze of stairs and corridors to negotiate that are tatty, smelly and full of junk. Two men taking turns on reception, one very nice and very talkative, one rather grumpy. The nice one told ne that his family had run the place for 43 years, which explains a lot.
One Night in November!
Visited Scarborough on a whim and decided to stay the night - at £27 we were worried what we'd get.
The place itself is a bit tired and need of tlc...however the room was well equipped and had a lovely bathroom (unexpected!) The mattress had seen better days and the blinds didn't make the room v. dark but we had an incredible sea view!
lovely enough little place
Was upgraded from a single room to an apartment with a view of the sea at no extra cost.
Rooms are a little old fashioned and there were cracks in the walls and room was a little chilly but a small heater was provided. I really have no complaints though, was happy enough staying there and would definitely return.
cheap & cheerful
We had booked to stay overnight in the hotel rooms but because they were so busy we were moved into an apartment.
Happy days it was fab all self contained, separate kitchen, shower & separate toilet, very comfy. Although we only stayed overnight it was a very pleasant stay & we would not hesitate in returning here.
Upgraded from double room to apartment on arrival.
Apartment was huge, clean, well maintained and very comfortable. Great position if you don't mind a moderate walk including steps/slopes. Highly recommend
Villa Esplanade Apartments & Hotel Rooms
Excellent location for our short break.
Apartments clean and quiet. Dog friendly apartment, lovely sea view. Reception very accommodating, friendly and helpful
The staff were friendly helpful and always pleasant to take to.
We were happy with the room as it had an en-suite and kitchen area.
The only problem was that the guests living above us seemed as though they were about to fall through the ceiling at any time. We heard absolutely everything and whenever they moved it felt as though our windows were about to shatter. Very difficult to sleep with that happening as soon as they got in.
Worst stay ever. Checked into fawlty towers!
Smallest room ever with really poor quality of bed.
Decor predates basil fawlty and should have been left in the 50's. Couldn't sleep as bed was a nightmare. Dirty stained headboard and carpet. Bathroom was basic - ok for cleanliness but No soap.
If your looking for cheap accommodation - go camping or stay at a youth hostel.
£9 for car parking?!
Family Scarborough weekend
We booked a self-catering apartment for a family of four (two teenage children).
The accommodating suited our needs and was very good value for money. For a small extra cost we were able to check out at a time that suited us better. We would stay there again but would, however, suggest that staff at reception are a bit more friendly.
