The Queen's Royal
Having moved into the double deluxe room (no 1 on the first floor) with sea view for the second night of our stay at only a cost of £2.50 more this was far superior to the twin (no 4) at the rear of the hotel on the 2nd floor.
Having said that, again there was no anti slip mat for the bath and no toiletries other than hand soap dispenser but the towels were thicker and softer. Our only other criticism was that the Wi-fi did not connect in either room ......it was only available on ground floor.
Disappointing for the price
The accommodation was clean but generally rather tired.
To reach the ensuite there was a step up from the bedroom which one had to remember when leaving, especially in the dark. The ensuite window pane was cracked and looked too risky to open so with no working extractor fan the bathroom got steamed up. The bath was not designed with any anti-slip ridges in the base so with no anti-slip mat provided was rather hazardous for guests of a certain age. There was a soap dispenser but no other toiletries provided and the towels though clean and white were thin and scratchy.
Not a hotel just a pub with accommodation. Nowhere for "hotel" guests to relax.
Room dark and unwelcoming.
Bed hard and uncomfortable. Our gluten free needs were not met even though we were assured they would be. Staff pleasant, plenty of hot water and the room was warm enough. Wifi only worked in the restaurant area. Floors and doors creaked noisily. Wet towels not changed.Breakfast was satisfactory.
Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here.
Staff were really friendly and supportive when a delay in arrival due to traffic conditions threatened the arrival. Bent over backwards to help. Breakfasts were very tasty, hot and very well presented.
well worth a stay
Had a room at the front of the hotel and enjoyed the view.
Lovely and quiet. People complained in other reviews about the TV size, did not bother us as we came to get away and enjoy a nice night out.
NO COMPLAINTS.ALL I REQUIRED,EASY PARKING,EASY TO FIND.CLEAN COMFORTABLE ROOMS AND A GOOD BREAKFAST.
Did not stay room had not been booked
We were not told that the rooms had not been booked for us.
I rang up to confirm time of arrival on Wednesday night and it was only then we were told. However Jan managed to get us in the New Brighton Hotel and would stay there next time as it was excellent,
Below average stay
Stayed here over bank holiday weekend.
Shared bathrooms are not a problem with me; however, this one was constantly a mess because of the other users. The toilet was blocked by somebody on the third night/fourth morning.. There was no hot water on the second and third day - we went to find somebody to inform them but couldn't find a member of staff until the night of the third day.
The room was okay in terms of cleanliness but I would have expected it to be spotless. It was obvious that the room isn't used that often - it smelt dusty and looked as if it had not been stayed in. The walls are quite thin - we could hear the people either side of us day and night.
On the plus side, the bed was very comfortable.
Good location, nice from outside but far from great inside
We got one of the rooms facing the back of the hotel.
It's not a problem in itself - I don't always need to have a room with a sea view. However, there are a few high powered fans behind the hotel that prevented us from opening the window due to the noise they make. Fortunately, it wasn't too hot, but I wouldn't want to stay there in a hot weather. The room's deco is well out of date. So is the hallway's. The management must have had a hard time figuring out where to set up the dining room, so they decided to do it where I'd expect to see the reception. Basically, you enter the hotel through the main door and instead of the reception there is a dozen of tables with chairs. The only two good things about this hotel are the location and really nice people working there!
This hotel looks a lovely traditional building in he photo, but right next to it is a really scruffy car park which looks like something from the Bronx.
If I'd have realised our room was in a sort of granny flat at the back of the building, with a shared bathroom, looking out onto the aforementioned appalling car park I wouldn't have booked it. It was our 1st weekend away together so a bit of a disappointment. A man sharing our bathroom was a smoker and had been smoking inside-is this still allowed!?-the whole block reeked of it when we were showed to our room. The only saving grace was the very helpful young man on reception and the cooked breakfast was lovely. Next time I'll definitely choose another hotel closer to Liverpool or even in the centre as I'd rather deal with a bit of noise than stay in a hotel where our room was more like a hostel bedroom.
