Poor! Building site

When we arrived at the ship in Wirral we were pleasantly welcomed to what can only be described as a building site right next door.

We were woken on all 3 mornings by workmen & plant operating machinery. I would honestly think twice about staying here

Great place to visit. Loads to do

Excellent hotel with super food.

Only comment is its old so floors creak not great when trying not to wake rest of the family in middle of night when taking trip to the bathroom.

good value at the Ship

The staff were polite and helpful at all times.

The hotel is quiet and well situated (looking across the silted Dee to the hills of North Wales). THe old building is a bit creeky and sound proofing is affected but it wal all fine. Excellent value for money and we would certainly return.

Pleasant & relaxing weekend break in a cosy atmosphere

This was my third stay at The Ship and the standard of my previous visits has been maintained.

The hotel is comfortable without being ostentatious, so it is an excellent place to stay if, like me, you want a quiet and private place to sleep in peace.

There are major renovation works going on to the old school next door but there was no noise from this at the weekend, altho' weekdays the builders are working from 8.00 am.

My room was comfortable and well appointed, the bed was clean and also comfortable. The breakfast is excellent, well cooked and substantial with the usual variety of cereals, yogurt, toast, coffee and tea to go with it. The staff are friendly and polite, attentive and courteous.

Parkgate is a very pleasant riverside village with close access to Wirral Country Park so a country walk is easy to take in. Abundant wildlife can be observed on the marshland by the quay, an interesting feature which dates back hundreds of years, and along the coastal path. The view across the river to North Wales is expansive lending a feel to the place of a much busier and bustling past when the village was a quite significant port. I have family in the area and visit frequently so when not staying with them I would choose to stay here at the Ship again without any hesitation.
