5AA Assessed Hotel Ratings explained
26 The Forbury, Reading, RG1 3EJ
The Forbury has been described as The UKs Sexiest Townhouse Hotel by The Evening Standard and the design and opulence is the talk of the fashionable set - The Cerise Cocktail Bar has an award notable wine list and an award winning cocktail barman - There is a 30-seater cinema room with Italian leather seats available for private hire and functions - whether business or pleasure We stay with you - This promise drives everything we do - It makes every moment of your stay a special memory - It is in the smile that greets you - This warmth and friendliness you will feel while you are here - In every corner at every moment you will notice an attention to detail that shows our passion - It is the belief that makes us excel - It is our inspiration - It is the very essence of the Forbury - like spending time with an amazing family - We stay with you The 23 rooms and suites arranged over four floors blend design - art - lighting and sound to create a space that does not just look right - it feels right - this atmosphere permeates throughout the hotel but it is about much more than the exquisite decor - From the 86000 Italian glass beads in the chandelier running the height of the building in the old lift shaft to the opulent fabrics and wallpapers and attention to every single detail - there is simply no place in the UK as extraordinarily opulent and stunning - A bold statement but true

The best hotel I have ever stayed at
I have stayed at many boutique hotels including Hotel Du Vin and Malmaison but The Forbury is in a different league. The room was fantastic. Spacious, luxurious and relaxing. The staff were very friendly and accommodating. We had a very good meal which considering the hotel's status was extremely reasonably priced and very enjoyable.
If I have any criticisms it would be a couple of minor points related to the cleaning, the glass shelves in the bathroom were quite dusty and the single lift (due to listed building constraints I would assume) is shared as a customer and service lift and had quite dirty mirrors. My biggest issue was that the room was quite hot and there was no air conditioning but again I would imagine that this was due to the listed building status and the fan provided helped to some extent.
Would I stay here again? In the blink of an eye. I felt relaxed and welcome and enjoyed my visit immensely. I could not recommend it this hotel highly enough.

Wonderful treat.
We have been to the Forbury once before and enjoyed it very much so decided to return on my birthday. It is a special place with much attention to detail and so comfortable. Upon entering your room all your tensions slip away. I will want to keep going back for more.

Quality pure quality
The hotel was amazing and the staff couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. Parking is difficult but the hotel staff parked the car for me and when I needed it is was outside within 5 minutes. Breakfast was superb, quality not quantity a rare commodity in hotels I've found in recent times. The room itself was luxury pure luxury. We stayed there because my daughter is at Reading Uni so I will definitely visit again. Not the cheapest hotel in the area but value for money for certain.
