Fantastic experience
stayed at Raemoir recently as part of a larger group of 11 friends and family for a get together before Christmas. The hotel is magnificent, from the minute you turn off the main road up the long drive way you get the feeling it will be something special. The public areas are decorated and furnished in a way which reflects what the house would have been like in years gone by and, being Christmas, the decorations were beautiful, tasteful but not over the top and in keeping with the style of the place. I shared a twin room (Cowdray) with my mother and again the room was fantastic. The furniture was a bit of a mish mash of antiques but it worked perfectly. The beds were extremely comfy and the room was lovely and warm. We had a great view out over the side of the hotel, lawns and fields. A lovely little touch was the proper china tea cups in the room. The room itself was spacious and plenty of storage. There was a small TV but we didn't come away to watch the telly so didn't turn it on. Free wifi throughout the hotel and in the rooms and no problems with that. The bathroom was bright and spacious (I think others have complained on here the that the bathroom was too white?! At least here you could actually see yourself properly in the mirror whereas in the likes of some Hilton's and other hotels the bathroom lighting is far too soft). Lovely toiletries and soft towels and plenty of hot water. Shower pressure was great and no issues with the plumbing or water pressure that others have mentioned. We met downstairs in the Big Fish bar for drinks initially before moving into the drawing room when it became quieter before dinner. The drawing room is spectacular with oak panelling all around and window shutters which are closed when it becomes dark. Also huge log fires throughout the hotel which provide a great heat. The Australian barman was very friendly and chatty with us all and very accommodating. We dined in the private dining room which was fantastic as it enabled us all to sit together and gave us privacy from other guests (and probably gave them a bit of peace from us). The staff at the hotel were great, friendly and attentive without being intrusive. All the staff we encountered smiled and spoke to us and made us feel welcome. Dinner itself was fantastic, we were given the festive menu which had a great selection on it and the food was beautifully presented and delicious. The portion sizes were not huge but it was more than enough for everyone. One of the management team even provided us with a docking station to allow us to play some music at dinner which was a nice touch. We returned to the drawing room after dinner for a few more drinks and did not feel that we were being rushed to leave by the staff (I think we all left for bed by 1230am). The hotel was quiet (possibly because it was a Sunday night) and we got a good nights sleep with no disturbances. Breakfast the next day was one of the best I have had in a long time. A great range of options on the breakfast menu and the food was again beautifully presented and absolutely delicious. There was a really nice range of jam, honey and marmalade on the table and we were given plenty of tea/ coffee, toast and croissants. The staff were again very friendly and attentive. For my mother and I, it was our first time here as we are not from the area but we have been recommending Raemoir to everyone, we really could not fault a thing. I think I speak for the group when I say we all had a fantastic time and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. So much so we are looking to do this again next year; providing we weren't too rowdy and the hotel will have us back

Welcoming and thoroughly excellent
Just a thoroughly decent, welcoming and excellent place.
Had one of the cheap top floor rooms sold as a single but actually a perfectly good double. Newly decorated, lovely furniture, comfortable bed, well equipped. Very efficient, friendly and helpful staff.

Very disappopinted. Credibility of awards scheme questioned.
Very disappointed with my stay. Plumbing needs major upgrade. Waste from sink backfilled through the drain outlet into the bath resulting in drain bacteria entering the bath. Management were informed about this but would not provide me with another room unless I paid more – informed only double rooms available at extra cost yet I was in a room with a large double bed and two sets of complementary biscuits, towels etc.. Pressure in the bath shower was very poor. A long run of tap required to get hot water for shaving. Fabric covering the bucket chairs was frayed and needed reupholstering. Three pieces of worn out painted furniture in room replaced on second day of stay by old oak furniture - wardrobe, dressing table and table for complementary drinks.
Complementary biscuits in room were good and tasty. Breakfast muesli with fresh fruit and yoghurt was good. Traditional cooked breakfast dry and over-cooked – poached eggs hard (over cooked) each morning. Bar menu: burger good; fish (two tiny pieces) and chips not value for money.
Whoever awarded this establishment the regional country house hotel of the year award 2014, lack credibility in my opinion based on the above facts. There are better hotels in the area.

Highly Recommended
A very well appointed and comfortable country house hotel in a beautiful location with excellent service, very good food set in beautiful grounds.
Although I was on a business trip I would love to return with my wife for a more relaxed visit.
