About the hotel
The Melbreak Country House Hotel is a family run hotel offering high standards and good service. Situated on the edge of the Lake District and on the Cumbrian Coast the Hotel Boasts dramatic panoramic views of the Loweswater Valley and Mountains beyond, including the imposing Melbreak, from which the Hotel takes its name. Being only a short drive from the A66 (which links to the M6), the location of the Hotel makes it an ideal place to stay for people wishing to discover the beauty of the northern lakes and coastal towns, and for people working in the area.
Guests wishing to sample the cullinary expertise of our chefs will be delighted with the local produce on offer and the new Conservetory Restaurant, which provides an ideal setting for a relaxed meal whilst enjoying fantastic views of the surrounding countryside.

False advertising and awful service
We booked the melbreak based entirely on the advertisement of super King beds but on arrival we could see straight away this wasn't the case.
Upon politely asking reception we were told that we were wrong and it was a super King bed and perhaps the one we have at home is a queen. Room was otherwise ok, bed obviously smaller than expected so didn't get any sleep. Mostly disappointed by reception's lies and appalling customer service. I have since sent an e mail to inform them that their advertisements are wrong and how upset I was with my stay and I barely even got an apology. Not a 4 star service.
Firstly, thank you for your review following your recent stay at the hotel and obviously very disappointed to hear that you did not enjoy your stay.
Please be assured we have amended the description to reflect the slightly smaller bed and apologise for any distress this may have caused. It is also disappointing that you only found the room "okay" when all other guests have been delighted with the allocation, especially the added bonus of the Juliet balcony which allows superb views over the surrounding area.
I am more concerned however, with regard to your comment that there was barely an apology from reception when I am confident that the member of staff concerned would have dealt with the matter in the most professional way and can only assume that her words have perhaps been misinterpreted. The one thing we do pride ourselves with, and I'm sure other reviews will endorse this fact, is that our customer service is generally excellent.
Once again, I can only apologise for the misunderstanding with regard to the bed size; this has been an innocent mistake and one that has now been rectified so prevent other guest from being misled.
