Horseley Park Stay
On arrival the reception staff were very helpful.
We were a mixed party and the receptionist noted that my father who is 87 and mother who is 83 had been given an upstairs room. She was not happy with this and sorted them a ground floor room immediately. All staff were very friendly but this receptionist was very perceptive and resolved the rooms without it becoming an issue. The rooms were all very clean although our room had an issue with the shower. Water was not draining very fast and although the duty manager did try and resolve on our first night by the morning we left the water was not going anywhere. However as we were there for a weekend I appreciate that maintenance may not having been working. We were there for 2 nights and able to shower and it never flooded. Choice of food in the restaurant was very good and plentiful, good value for money. We were attending a wedding on the Saturday so did not have chance to try out the leisure facilities but judging by the amount of families who were it must be good and also family friendly. Breakfast each morning was very good. The grounds are delightful and the courtyards around which the hotel is built offered a tranquil area to sit and relax. I also liked the tea and coffee stations so you could help yourself to either at any time of day. An excellent variety of teas. In all a very pleasant stay and I was very impressed with the attention that the staff paid to the small things that could have made the experience so different.
Okay For Onr Night
The hotel seems to cater more for Conference Bookings, the rooms we had were basic, very outdated and somewhat noisy as all the rooms outside doors spring shut, the rooms we had were a bit grubby especially the bathrooms.
The bathroom hand and Bath towels were like sandpaper so be warned. We did not pay a huge amount for the room so you get what you pay for and on this basis the rooms were just about okay. Tip, don't eat in the hotel there is a great little pub just outside the conference complex and the food is very good.
