Lovely large room
The room I booked as a single traveller was a large twin with writing desk, chair and chaise longue which was a lovely treat.
The lounge and bar areas are spacious and welcoming. Parking was easy and the spa area a great add on to my stay and very clean. The hotel receptionist was very helpful with directions and a map to a local specialist shop and breakfast service was speedy - I had the continental version and didn't eat in the restaurant so can't comment on the cooked food. The advertising of a view of beautiful waterfall gardens form the restaurant is a bit misleading - it's a series of white walls and some small hedges with water running down the middle and a few dead looking plants at the front currently - may well look a bit better in the warner months but needs some attention now. Put something fake in if you need to - it's far enough away form the windows so as not to be obvious. I'm not sure if all hotels of this sort put a hefty pre authorization amount on your credit/debit card but it confused me and was one of the factors that led onto a mix up regarding payment for my stay. This was the first time I'd used a late rooms voucher and hotel staff didn't seem to know about charging late rooms directly. If I hadn't been so tired and distracted by untimely family events I would probably have prompted this better myself but it did take 2 days of me speaking to the hotel after I'd paid and left and then finding they hadn't contacted late rooms at all - they were very polite but ineffective basically. I don't think I should have to contact late rooms directly myself and then late rooms staff contact the hotel - it's the hotel who need to obtain payment from late rooms and then refund me so I can't sort that out for them. Ultimately it's just one of those things and I have my refund and a very polite apology - I'm not one to make a fuss about these sorts of things in life but if you have a voucher for any hotel make sure you push the point at the time. I'd still go back for a few quiet nights and spa break
Good night's sleep
