About the hotel
Welcome to the Duke of Wellington Courtyard Rooms, ideally situated in the heart of some of the most beautiful scenery that North Yorkshire has to offer. Our barn conversion was completed in July 2012, offering five rooms, all with ensuite bathrooms and finished to a very high standard. The Courtyard Rooms allows you to choose from twin, double and family room options.
To further enhance your stay, the Duke of Wellington Public House is a fully licensed premises, offering a wide selection of traditional home cooked meals, and although separate from the Courtyard Rooms is less than 20 metres away. (Please note; The Courtyard Rooms and The Duke of Wellington are on the same site but are run independently). Ideally situated only a stones throw away from the Coast to Coast walking and cycling routes, giving you the opportunity for a great nights rest before the next leg of your journey. (Regional Route 52 to Whitby for you cyclists). If the Coast to Coast is a little too strenuous for you, then why not visit some of the local market towns. Yarm, Northallerton, Stokesley, Great Ayton, Osmotherly and Thirsk are all within 10 minutes, providing a winning combination of unique shopping and lovely cosy tea rooms. Not done enough shopping? Then Middlesbrough Town centre, Teesside retail park and Hartlepool Marina is only a short drive away. If you fancy travelling further a field then Helmsley, York, Whitby and Scarborough are all within easy reach.

On arrival staff very friendly and helpful.
This was a late Booking with only one hour notice but they could have turned the heating on prior to my arrival, as it was very cold. Television had no controls
Bed was not very clean, with covers and pillows with flakes and hair. Not cleaned well.
We opted for the twin room as we were told it was bigger than the double.
We found the room quite small and had to push the beds together to get into the wardrobe. There was little dressing table space and no shelf space in the bathroom to put toiletries on. There was a problem with the heating and hot water, but was sorted by the afternoon. A bedside lamp would be nice. The beds were very comfortable and the linen was clean but no option for fresh linen or daily room clean. No breakfast option unless you travelled to a town. The pub next door was very good. Food great and plenty. Make sure you are hungry when you visit. Staff were lovely. We felt the courtyard rooms would have been better built as 3 bigger rooms rather than 4 smaller ones.
