About the hotel

Welcome to Primrose Lodge. We are a friendly, family-run bed and breakfast situated on the outskirts of the lovely village of Dunnington, just five miles from York city centre and two miles from Grimston Bar Park & Ride (the cheapest and easiest way to get in to York). Our property is surrounded by the beautiful Yorkshire countryside, with a large garden at the front - perfect for relaxing and unwinding after a day out.

All of our rooms are a fantastic size, have their own individual ground-floor entrances and can accommodate between two and five guests. Each room has an en suite bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, digital TV with Freeview, free Wi-Fi, a hairdryer and ironing facilities. We also provide ample free parking. You will be greeted with complimentary tea, coffee or hot chocolate on arrival, as well as a slice of our homemade chocolate cake! We offer delicious cooked breakfasts which can be served at flexible times; choose from a traditional 'Full English' or one of our continental or lighter options. We are located within walking distance of two pubs which serve delicious homemade food at lunchtime and evenings. If you would like us to make a reservation for you prior to your arrival, we will be more than happy to do so. York is a hugely popular destination. It is host to many attractions, including the world famous York Minster, Clifford's Tower, the National Railway Museum and many more. Each of our rooms contain a comprehensive guide to attractions in York and the surrounding areas. York Racecourse is just a 15 minute drive away, while York Maze, Elvington Airfield and the Yorkshire Farming Museum are located less than two miles down the road. We are also just two miles from the A64, which provides direct access to Leeds (a 35 minute drive) and Scarborough (a one hour drive). The historic towns of Harrogate and Knaresborough are within a 45 minute drive, as are two stunning National parks - the Dales and the North York Moors.

Fantastic place to stay the owner Deborah was exceptionally helpful went out of her way to guide us on York and the best way to make the most of our stay.

Even provided information on parking or bus routes, the room was clean, private and quiet. We would definitely stay again. Its well located so you can easily go into York or surrounding areas as its within easy access to the motorway.

Our stay at Primrose Lodge

From beginning to end our stay was first class, everything you could want was there.

Debbie, the owner, was very attentive to your needs from cake and tea on your arrival to cake at odd times thro your stay. The breakfast was very good very well served and very tasty, fresh bread as well. We stayed for 4 nights and had a very enjoyable break. A first class B & B
