Jolyons @ No. 10
Was greeted at reception by a very charming and polite young man who booked us in and showed us to our rooms.
The rooms were large and clean and the bathroom was exceptional we had asked at reception about evening meal and was informed that they served a lovely 3 course or 2-course evening meals and was even shown a menu. After a shower and a rest we went to eat AND that's when it went downhill we found the bar/restaurant very busy we found a table but no chairs my daughter went to seek them out and returned with several chairs my sister went to order drinks and asked about the evening meal where she was told "I will ask chef if he can cook you something". and then promptly forgot about us after 30 mins my daughter approached the reception and asked what has happened was dinner still being served the young man was quite confused and said he would get it sorted. 35 mins later still nothing so we left and got a taxi to another restaurant where we were lucky to be able to find a warm meal and good service. we returned to the hotel after a lovely meal and had a glass of wine before retiring but still felt a little put out and disappointed that we customers who where guests staying at the hotel had been treated in such a manner and hadn't even received so much as an apology. They need to employ more staff as these poor men were embarrassed and far too busy to run an exceptionally busy bar and restaurant. Just felt the whole evening a waste of time and money will stay elsewhere from now on.
Enjoyed our stay and much prefer small hotel to large multinational hotel.
Staff friendly and accommodating. Limited parking on site so be aware that you may have to pay for overnight parking although staff managed to fit us in. Breakfast very good. Short stroll to the city centre, Cardiff if very compact all sights are in easy walking distance. If travelling by national express coaches it is ideal because station is in park behind property. We would stay again if travelling in Cardiff.
