Weekender in Wigan
Situated about a mile from Wigan's town centre, this is a small B&B with all rooms above a evenings only Bar/Pub.
For about £40 i was given a very small single room above the main bar area which proved to be no problem in terms of noise as the drinkers had mostly left by 10.45pm. However, the very clean but basic room had the most noisy floorboards imaginable and i soon learned how to tiptoe around, which wasn't easy given the "size" of the room (2m x 3.5m). A generous continental breakfast is included in the price. I didn't want or expect a full fry up at this price so the cheeses and bread/jams were more than enough and served in a very pretty lounge. Parking is on the properties own driveway for about 2/3 cars so arrive early and make sure you aren't blocked in; i found a car directly behind blocking me in and the owner could not find the driver despite being told i was the only guest that night. Street parking is somewhat restricted except on sundays and after 6pm on other days.
The owners claim to be live in but when i tried phoning the number (obtained from their own separate website) no one ever answered. If you want to get in touch call them early mornings or evenings only.
