Clean, comfortable, convenient
We booked a room here for an overnight stop after a gig at the O2 ABC in nearby Sauchiehall Street, having had bad experiences with the last trains back to Polmont previously.
So it was ideally located at a 5 minute walk away, and a great price. We had room 7 which is ensuite, it was basic but comfortable, had everything we needed and was immaculately clean. In fact we had the impression it had been recently deep cleaned, as there was a rather overwhelming smell of polish or fresh paint or something. Which is one or only a few minor gripes, along with the shower, which seemed to only have 2 settings, "ice" and "burns unit". But like I said, minor gripes. Bed was very comfortable, and we had a grey nights sleep and ample breakfast. We would definitely stay here again if looking for somewhere to crash after a gig or other event in Glasgow.
Helped us out of a jam
3 of us travelled to Glasgow for a day shopping when the trains were cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.
Other hotels were hiking the prices up and as there were 3 of us would have required us to have 2 rooms. Charing Cross Guest House had a family room, which was warm, and had comfy beds. Breakfast was included, which we weren't aware of when we booked literally at the last minute. We even provisionally booked for the next night in case the trains were still cancelled. When we were told we wouldn't be able to travel we took the room, and paid for it, at a reduced rate (when they could have easily kept the same price). In the end the trains did get moving, and they refunded the money without a thought.
The room was basic, but clean and warm and there was a large choice for breakfast, including a full cooked or cereals etc.
