We were disappointed on arrival after poor reception service for not just us but two further guests ahead of us on check in.
We had to wait some 40 minutes. Hotel didn't even know we'd made a reservation with Laterooms. Then they eventually made a room up. When we entered the room, staff were still preparing the beds, so we had to leave again. When we eventually arrived back the bathroom had a pungent sewage smell. It was so strong we had to leave the windows open all night (in winter) and It didn't make a difference by morning. The staff were inconsiderate. There was no milk for hot drinks such as coffee, no tea bags, plus the kettle switch didn't work anyway. The hot water didn't heat up properly for the bath and shower. Then we got moved to another room on the second night with no window, but the plus was that the room had no unpleasant smell. We were unable to regulate the heating. We expected at least a "Quality" standard considering thats what the hotel claims to be. A further guest was messed around at reception on check in as he had booked in and they also said they didn't have his details as all their computers were down. The service and manners of the staff was the worst we've experienced. The location was brilliant and the actual building, but if only the service and standard could be improved it would flourish. I just hope that future guests won't be treated in the manner we were and have adequate service.
Transferred to Sister Hotel
Although we booked a 2 night stay in the Quality Crown Hyde Park hotel, on arrive we were taken to the sister hotel round the corner, which was near all the bars, restaurants and Paddington Station, so a better location.
The room was small, but was no smaller than I expected. Breakfast was in Garfunkels restaurant next door. The first day the breakfast was excellent. The second day, the bacon was burnt, so it tasted of charcoal. Otherwise breakfast good.
Not a 4star stay
After leaving our bag at the hotel in the morning we went out for the day to return around 9.00pm and then spent the next 20mins trying to check in our room.
Although the receptionist had my bag my name and I gave her the credit card which I booked the room with, she still wanted a copy of the confirmation or my driving licience of which i didn't have. Eventually I got an email on my phone to show her which for me put a bad start on our stay. We paid an extra £10 to upgrade our room and we got a bigger bed but the bathroom had a smell of raw sewage or rotten eggs and the room had a view of the scaffold from our window. The walls in the room are so thin you could everything the people were speaking next door and from the street below. Other people staying at the hotel were also upset about the smell and we told the receptionist while we were checking out. she was so sorry but couldn't do anything other than tell housekeeping. The breakfast was nice and the location was great but it wasn't a 4star stay.
Poor value for money
The hotel is in need of major investment.
The carpets in the corridors, for example are very worn, and the stairs in places are threadbare. Rooms are very basic (small, no chair, old TV not in good working order), and poorly maintained. The bathroom had a most unpleasant sewage smell. The hotel describes itself as "Hyde Park" but in fact it is in Paddington (though quite a nice area of Paddington). It has a poor bar, and no evening restaurant - though there is a good choice of restaurants nearby. You can get much better for your money in London.
Easy to find.
Central. Thought the room was cold. Couldn't have a bath, water wasn't warm enough. However it was an enjoyable stay, staff pleasant and yes would stay again.

Was my friends birthday and I'd asked the hotel to have balloons and champagne in the room on arrival. Everything was executed in a professional manner and my friend was absolutely thrilled with the surprise. Value for money here is excellent and the breakfast very yummy. The hotel was one of the quietest I've stayed in in London (though not without a little noise from rooms above). The beds were extremely comfortable. Only small thing was that the shower took a long time to get hot. Overall, a great stay. I am sure we will be back. Thank you

Stayed 3 nights here and could not fault the service.
Room was compact but had everything you needed and the situation was perfect for the tube services from Paddington. The garden square the hotel is situated on makes it hard to believe you are in central london.

Hotel 5 minutes from Paddington Station. Check in was efficient, room was very clean with two double beds.
One night stay midweek
No heating in room, ( fan heater provided which blew on and off loudly all night), bathroom freezing, no hot water for bath in the morning.
Despite booking king size bed our room had 3 singles, when we asked for the king size we had booked we were asked to wait downstairs whilst a staff member pushed two of the singles together and remade them. On our return to room, staff member had left her cardigan thrown on a chair. The room keys would not work after this and we had to have them re-issued late at night. The tv would not work, the kettle etc in was in a drawer outside the bathroom - we did not find these till the following morning just before we vacated the room (we would have expected these to be seen in the room, not shut away in a draw). On the plus side the beds were comfortable and breakfast was very good.
